I think this’ll probably be an anticlimactic last fight for Maia. Probably just get volume punched for three rounds.

Maia has to actually get a takedown or back take in order for a submission to happen, and Belal has great TDD and is very mobile when he fights so I don't think Maia will be able to get a hold of him. Maia is like most BJJ fighters in that he only has a single and double-leg takedown in his arsenal. Belal will stay on the feet and piece him up for 3 rounds to a wide decision because he's not a power puncher and Maia is tough as ****

If I were to do a parlay I would just do over 2.5 Adeanysa v Vetorri, Belal, and Edwards tbh. Maybe throw in fight goes the distance in the Dawodu fight

Adesanya vs. Vettori II
Israel Adesanya, TKO, R4
3 Years and 2 months since the last fight. Isi for the KO! Vettori has gone on a 5 fight win streak against mid level opponents. Just look at the 8 names Israel has taken down since then.

Figueiredo vs. Moreno II
Brandon Moreno, DEC
stay away from this fight as far as money goes. damn, im betting on the over line of 4.5 Rounds. lets go the distance boys!

Edwards vs. Diaz
Nate Diaz, DEC
I have nothing to go off of except Imbedded Footage of Diaz.

Maia vs. Muhammad
Demian Maia, SUB, R3
Belal is not a finisher and If you give Maia enough time, he can find a way to win.

Craig vs. Hill
Paul Craig, TKO, R2
I think the Bearjew wants it more! Hill is due for a loss.

Yeah I think the (probably) 40ish pound difference in weight on fight night had a lot to do with Jan’s performance. Even on the feet Izzy had to stick and move and respect his power in a way that he doesn’t with Vettori. Then obviously that impacted the takedowns. I’m sure Vettori think that fight is the blueprint, but I don’t think he’s going to be able to replicate any of that.

The difference between middleweight and light heavy is the biggest divisional weight jump in the sport. (heavyweight circus fights aside) And Izzy is on the light side of middleweight, Jan on the heavy side of light heavyweight to boot. That fight was like a basketball heat check, when a shooter makes a few shots in a row so they start taking riskier and riskier shots to test how hot they are. Izzy tore through everyone and tested how far he could push it. No shame in that, but I also think we gotta be careful how much mma math we try to take from it. Like, I don't think there's a "blueprint" other than "Be massively bigger and stronger".

Adesanya vs. Vettori II
Israel Adesanya, DEC
I dont see Vettori racking up enough control time to win this fight without gassing out. Israel is miles ahead on the feet and he alwaus seems to land the more eye catching strikes. I think Vettori can win rounds if he gets some takedowns and pressures Izzy relentlessly when they are on the feet but I dont see him being able to keep up the kind of pace necessary to take Izzy out of his gameplan for 5 rounds. Marvin is tough as nails and so hard to finish so Adesanya by decision is the pick.

Figueiredo vs. Moreno II
Deiveson Figueiredo, DEC
This is gonna be a helluva fight. I see Figgy's power making the difference here. Deivison was beatable when he accepted being on the bottom after being taken down but now he has evolved his game and when his opponents try to take him down he attacks with submissions, tries to sweep or creates space and gets back up. Moreno can take him down, but can he hold him there? If not I see Deiveson landing the more impressive strikes. Moreno is incredibly tough and hard to finish but if anyone in the flyweight division has the power to do it it's Deiveson. I'm picking Figgy by decision, however, if he makes weight with no problem and appears to be fully healthy I might pick him to win by KO in the 2nd or 3rd.

Duck's Pick And Breakdowns

Predictions: 14 of 14 Winners, 6 Perfect, 905 Points   |   2nd Place

This was a hard card to pick as most of the fights were close and interesting matchup, Shock so many heavy favourites on the card. You don't want to be a ***** picking all the favourites as it also boring. Really exited for this card as this card is going to have a lot of upsets. Thank you for reading

@Duck

That’s a hot take picking Paul Craig. But the juice is there for the reasons you state in your breakdown, especially if you pick a twofer bet of Sub/Dec. Way to find value. The only one I don’t agree with at all is the McKinney pick.
