I find it weird how all the youtube predictor and the 'exports' are picking Cody Gabrandt and then the majority of people online is picking Rob Font confidently, I think most people are trick by the Meme of Cody no chin, This fight is at lest 50-50

If Cody wins this fight he needs to get a tittle shot. After Petr got one.

Hmm. Not sure I’m ready to give up on Edmen yet. If only he was at a better camp, I’d be more confident. Losing to Brunson as a 23 year old isn’t the end of the world...young fighters usually lose to guys like Brunson and get better in the next outing...however....but being under Edmond’s goofy ass, gotta seriously wonder if the proper improvements are being made....

Font vs. Garbrandt
Rob Font, TKO, R2
I would say w/o hesitation that Font's hands are more educated than Garbrandt's. Add a 6" reach advantage into the mix, and that just makes it even worse for Garbrandt. Kinda feel like Cody has to take the approach he took with Pedro Munhoz and just throw caution to the wind, sit down on shots and throw heat. Otherwise, Rob's just gonna pick him apart all night.

Yan vs. Esparza
Xiaonan Yan, DEC
My ONLY hesitancy here.... Gadelha was able to take Yan down in that 1st round, and Carla is definitely a better wrestler than Gadelha. Carla spoils my picks always. Because I won't pick her. Think she's just as boring as Chookagian.

Tafa vs. Vanderaa
Justin Tafa, TKO, R1
Whoooo the **** was the crackhead that put the bout order for this card together. You need to give him some heroin or something, because he's smoking way toooo much crack.

Hermansson vs. Shahbazyan
Jack Hermansson, SUB, R2
I'm not big on the idea of Shahbazyan jumping right back into the thick of things. He shoulda gotten a top 15-25 guy instead, but that's my opinion and it doesn't ******* matter. Kids still young as ****. Why don't they develop him a little more. I dont understand.

Medeiros vs. Hadžović
Yancy Medeiros, DEC
Yancy gotta be on everybody's favorite middle-tier fighter's list. He's fun to watch.

Ismagulov vs. Alves
Damir Ismagulov, DEC
Ismagulov is one of those dudes for me.... **** king dominant. But goddamn, I wish he'd put more effort into finishing fights.

Edmen Shahbazyan did very well on the first and second round. I think people are sleeping on him. And he also packing a power, I am going with TKO 1.

Predictions: 9 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 575 Points   |   Tied for 126th

Font vs. Garbrandt
Rob Font, TKO, R1
This is a coin flip fight but I feel like Font's reach advantage paired with the fact that he doesn't go totally berserk when he's been hurt will be enough to win him the fight.

Yan vs. Esparza
Carla Esparza, DEC
Yan has never faced a wrestler with the pressure that Esparza brings. I think Esparza will clinch, jab, and drag her down enough times to win her 5th close decision in a row.

Tafa vs. Vanderaa
Jared Vanderaa, TKO, R2
Vanderaa is going to be so much larger once they're in the cage, and his wrestling will be able to work well against a kickboxer. Also, every heavyweight fight is a coin toss so if you're betting it's only worth betting on the underdog

Spencer vs. Dumont
Felicia Spencer, SUB, R1
These are great odds, I would bet spencer as high as -250

Algeo vs. Ramos
Ricardo Ramos, SUB, R2
I think Ramos will be able to wade through Algeo's strikes and find takedowns, and will eventually sink in a choke.

Hermansson vs. Shahbazyan
Jack Hermansson, SUB, R1
Guillotine

Rothwell vs. Barnett
Ben Rothwell, SUB, R2
God damnit, I've been waiting years for Barnett to get into the UFC but not like this!! Short notice against Ben Rothwell who hasn't been knocked out since he fought sea level Cain is not good odds. I think Barnett will try some flashy moves and have some early success, but eventually lose steam when Rothwell doesn't go down, since he hasn't had a full camp for this fight.

Culibao vs. Nuerdanbieke
Shayilan Nuerdanbieke, TKO, R1
I smell an upset, but seeing how the Chinese undercard fighters did last time gives me little confidence.

Dvořák vs. Ronderos
David Dvořák, DEC
You KNOW I'm rooting for that upset, but Dvorak is so technical that it's hard to pick against him.

Medeiros vs. Hadžović
Yancy Medeiros, DEC
Medeiros can make very good use of a 5 inch reach advantage, Hadzovic is going to eat so many jabs his eyes are going to be puffed shut

Ismagulov vs. Alves
Damir Ismagulov, DEC
THIS IS THE OPENER???? If you showed me this matchup and told me to guess where it was taking place, I would say the main event of a big Russian promotion like M-1 or Open FC.

Hermansson vs. Shahbazyan
Edmen Shahbazyan, TKO, R1
I didn't study medicine, but in my university career I studied subjects like Anatomy, Physiology and Physiopathology. Edmen Shahbazyan has Pectus excavatum or a similar medical condition: These congenital conditions tend to occur due to abnormal bone development in the chest area (which when the chest is "sunken" produces the particular shape of Shahnazyan's ribs). The Pectus excavatum has a lot to do with lung capacity, which is why Shahbazyan always looked really tired after going to the second round (as in his fights against Stewart or Brunson). Despite this and having Edmond Taveryan as Head Coach, Edmen has a good Karate background, is very technical in standing fighting and has considerable KO power. Jack Hermansson is a good grappler who also has good standing and wins over fighters like Jacaré Souza and Kelvin Gatelum, but in striking he is vulnerable to body shots (despite losing, Jacaré stopped Jack's pace several times with body shots). Vettori managed to knock Hermansson down with a very technical left hook. While Hermansson has a greater advantage as the minutes go by, Shahbazyan has the skills to finish Jack Hermansson. Hermansson's strategy should be to try takedowns away from the cage (to avoid a situation similar to the one that happened to Charles Byrd) and once on the ground to work towards submission. Shahbazyan's strategy should be to launch body shots first and when Jack is no longer expecting it, throw power shots to the head (he could also throw the combination of hook to the body and then hook to the head). Hermansson himself said that the Covid case will probably affect his physical level during this fight, I think that this factor added to the other strategic factors that I have already mentioned will allow Shahbazyan to return to the win column and thus show that his defeat against Brunson served as experience and learning.

A lot of people are high on Font, I'm not sure. These are the fights I love the most, they really get you thinking. Cody looked calm, he looked happy at the weigh ins. That's a dangerous Cody, but will Font land with his reach?

If Cody can keep his wits, he's the fastest bantamweight in the division, and I'm going with him to score a 2nd round KO over Font. I'm not sure at all, though. Font is a sniper, but if the Cody that fought Cruz shows up, it's gonna be bad for Font.

Truly a 50/50 fight.
