Reyes vs. Procházka
Dominick Reyes, TKO, R3
Surprised that so many people are going for Jiri tbh. Jiri isn't nearly as technical as Jan, and his defense is meh. Plus, Reyes is much faster and cracks like a whip.

@RedFox190

If you saw how this guy trains and how serious he's taking this fight and Dominick Reyes, you would be picking him too. He definitely has the physical advantage in this fight, and is also more experienced. The impression you may have of him from the Oezdemir fight is extreme, to say the least. In his other fights, watching them back, he is an incredibly technical striker.

And that is mostly because he knows how to play mind games and knows how to use both stances to his advantage. He will set up patterns for his opponents only to break them down in timely fashion.

You could see this against Jake Heun, where he changes level, then throws a jab multiple times throughout the fight, and then before the stoppage he throws a cross after the same level change, which drops Heun instantly. Also, in the rematch with King Mo, he threw lots of jabs which made Lawal switch to a high guard very often. As soon as he saw that pattern, he tore it down and knocked down King Mo with a right hook while switching into southpaw stance, which would lead to the TKO about 10 seconds later.

Other than that, most people are picking him because Reyes just got destroyed, and it is very hard to recover from such a devastating and dominant loss, given that it was also his first. Recently, we saw this in Rozenstruik, who was incredibly gunshy after his first loss, which also came by brutal KO.

I'm not questioning Reyes' ability to win this fight, infact it's definitely possible, but the circumstances make it a tougher matchup for him than it should be. There is good reason for him to be the slight underdog this time around.

@Speedo24 I disagree. He's technical to some extent, in that he makes his style effective. But when was the last time he faced someone with the speed, footwork and range-management similar to what Dominick brings? Jiri gets hit a lot, and Reyes will touch him up for three rounds till he gets a stoppage.

@RedFox190

I respect your pick, we'll see if it pays off.

Honestly, it will just come down to whether Jiri will allow Reyes to use his movement against him like Jones did or just play ball like Jan did. Either way, interesting matchup, either guy should be up against Rakic next.

@rkn5

I think most people understand where he stands. He's 12-4 and is ranked #12 global.

He's good, but he's really only good at wrestling. Even then, he got outwrestled by Ricky Simon pretty badly. The most impressive W he has on his resume is Casey Kenney. He'll never be a title challenger, but he's alright.

Agree he is were he should be (or close) at rank 12. theres around 12 to 15 guy in the BW division that would beat him and I dont think Staman is one of them.

When you join a site to track your pick performance and practice complex parlay strategies and hopefully find a community of fans with an interest in increasing collective pick performance through collaborative thinking.........and find people picking fighters based on hairstyle, which devolves into forum members ****phobically bashing each other. Great Success! *facepalm*

@ThereIsNoSpoon101 I think it's a bit like the first time you go to Paris. You're expecting beautiful women selling poppies from broken briefcases, the aroma of freshly baked macaroons and  two voltaire-esque gentleman  philosophizing on a stone stairwell leading into a Seine as clear as bottled Evian.

What you actually get is hordes of incredibly disappointed Japanese tourists covering their noses against the smell of piss, papillon **** and low tide whilst fending off Syrian refugees trying to sell them laser pointers, and when you do happen to meet a native Parisian your standards of what constitutes a rude, obnoxious and perniciously unfriendly human being will be totally redefined and utterly eclipse your former gold standard.

Here's a concise diagrammatic explanation of what Tapology in 2021 is typically like on a regular day.
