It’s never safe to bet against Anthony Smith haha

I was kind of shook honestly until I remembered I won money. Like how hilarious is it that Crute can absolutely SMASH Anthony's leg about 20 times and then Anthony is like, hey let me try that since MY WHOLE BACKGROUND is Muay Thai. Lands essentially 3 leg kicks with his toes and cripples Crute. It seemed surreal.

my thoughts

usman deserves respect. knocking jorge, gilbert, and colby out is absolutely respectable. not to mention he outgrappled rda, maia, and woodley and jorge the first time. he's still so fake and unlikeable, and i hate the guy but i respect him. if he didn't try to intimidate me into respecting him after the burns fight, maybe he would be 30% likeable. also i was on twitter and i saw everybody counting rose namajunas out. absolutely stupid to count out the third best female fighter of all time. it's nunes, valentina, and rose. i mean out of the three rose is the best boxer. and i don't get why the commentators were so dramatic over the weidman fight saying' i can't look' come on, you wanted violence and you got it. you *******. i wanna see anthony smith fight thiago santos in a rematch or smith v spann because he looked incredible. im not AT ALL implying smith could've beat jones but if he showed up against jones like that he could've won a round or two. he looked crisp, and he looked like a seasoned veteran.

I only had time for the first 4 fights last night and I've just caught up with the rest of them and that is easily an early contender for event of the year!

I was kind of in the ballpark with my main event prediction:

"I personally think this fight will be very striking-heavy despite Usman being able to just wrestle and coast to a win. I think he's gaining more confidence in his striking and he'll use a smarter approach/gameplan to win. Jorge is from ATT and they have great preparation, and combined with his experience and skill-set this is no walk in the park, but context matters and Usman is in his peak prime. I think the only way he ****s this up is if he makes a big mistake where Jorge's experience will allow him to capitalize. Anyways Usman KO, 5th round probably like a left straight off of a right hook or something basic"

What happened to crute was a freak occurrence. Sadly it had to happen on my dime. If that fight was made again next week, I would still pick and bet on Crute.

you cant just act like it was a freak occurrence. smith was landing the jabs all night winning the fight and it's not like smith randomly checked a low kick or anything. he CAUSED the injury and won with his own kick. give the man his credit.

I absolutely can and will. An injury like that is very low-occurence thing in MMA. I'll agree Smith was landing the jab, but Crute was landing his own low kick and punches. When his ankle got ****** up, he effortlessly rag-dolled Smith and controlled him on the mat. I believe he could have continued to do that had the fight gone on even on one leg. He should have been allowed to fight on.

Again, I would 100% pick Crute in a rematch and would bet him again. I regret what happened, but I don't regret the reasoning behind my wager even a bit. Crute wins that fight 8/10 times.

I hate when people call for fighters retirements, but I think Chris Weidman is warranted. They told him it's 6-12 months to recover, he's a pro athlete so he'll probably try to come back within 4-5 months. Anything less than a year is probably not ideal at his age, and by the time they book him another fight he'll probably be 37 years old, probably approaching 38. If anything I think they should give him one final fight as a send-off and a chance for him to get one last W in and then put him in the Hall of Fame or something like that. Even if the guy comes back and can fight, he won't be champ again, and if he somehow keeps winning he will inevitably have to fight the best of the best and those guys can really hurt him. It really sucks that his career ended up like this after he was once a 13-0 UFC MW Champion that had back to back wins against Anderson ******* Silva, but there is still a chance for him to salvage his legacy and health if he doesn't let his ego and pride get in the way.

Gotta love Usman

He told him he was gonna put him in a coffin, smiled at him at the weigh ins like an undertaker, walked up right to his face at the introduction and sent him to the ******* shadow realm. Well done, sir. That's enough of Jorge I have to hear about now and see one of my favourite fighters turn from quiet to thinking they're the best eva.

NO EXCUSES NOW! SOFTEST HANDS?bwahahahahah

I didn’t mean you can’t have an opinion on it, and bad wording by me. But let’s be real for a moment. You’re giving Crute way too much credit for being competitive in the first round. He didn’t ‘ragdoll’ anyone. He shot a nicely timed reactive takedown and Smith got right back up. Crute was landing a few low kicks. So what? It wasn’t dong anything to Smith, and Crute threw like 10 low kicks to redden Smith a bit, and all Smith needed was one to end the fight.
