Depend on how Smith perform
IF he fight like in the Ryder fight he will loose but if he fight like in the Groves fight he may beat Canelo.

Theres a high risk of controversial split decision win for Canelo here.

I’m at a crossroads on this one. As much as I love Canelo, this Callum Smith guy is undefeated and could get an upset. But if I pick him perhaps Canelo could win. I’m taking Canelo with low confidence.

@Mikey1903

Personally, I'm really conflicted on this one. One part of me wants my fellow countryman to win and I am a fan of Callum Smith as I feel that there's a good argument to be made that he's Britain's current P4P #1 but at the same time, I'm also a fan of Canelo as he's one of those boxers that makes the hairs on my arms stand up when he enters the ring. From a patriotic point of view, it would be great to see Callum Smith win this but I don't let my patriotism cloud my judgement of fighters from around the world, especially when they produce exceptional fighters like Canelo. I only do the "COME ON "INSERT CURRENT HYPE JOB"! DO IT FOR BRITAIN!!!!!" comment when it's a British fighter against a foreign fighter that I don't care about that much.

As for my view on the fight I think that Canelo edges it on the scorecards but Smith will put on a great performance and I certainly can't see him being stopped. There is one thing that makes me doubt a victory for Canelo though. That's the fact that back in 2016, Canelo stopped Callum's older brother Liam with a body shot in the 9th Round. Liam and Callum would've studied that fight religiously, analysing every possible detail and trying to learn the lessons from that loss. Liam would've been telling Callum everything he knows about Canelo and he knows a lot about him! Callum will be armed with that knowledge and that combined with the personal desire to avenge his brother's loss would fire him up immensely. Strong and deeply personal emotions can do funny things to a fighter (I doubt Buster Douglas would've beaten Mike Tyson if he hadn't lost his mother recently beforehand and I know that losing your mother is way worse than your brother losing a boxing match but never underestimate the power of brotherly love. Neither me or my brother box but hypothetically, if my brother got KO'd by 200lb plus boxer, my 113lb arse would sure has hell try in vein to KO that guy!). What I'm trying to say is that we could see the most brutal version of Callum Smith so far. It just depends on his discipline and how he can control those emotions on the night.

****! I think I may have talked myself out of picking Canelo now.

Yeah I get it Stephen.

Canelo is very good. Been at the top of boxing for a decade! But I am picking Callum Smith here!  Part of it is because I don't really like Canelo, he lost to GGG and Lara, maybe even Trout!! Plus the whole Mexican Beef/Steriods thing. Plus I love underdogs winning and he is always a HUGE favourite!
But also, Callum Smith, I feel, has all the tools to beat Canelos ass!! Obviously the size, the reach. But the skills. The jab and ability to fight on the inside as a tall guy.
Call it wishful thinking but I fancy Callum to beat Canelo

@Mikey1903

Yeah, you raise another good point about the physical attributes of the fighters:

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez:

Height: 5' 8"
Reach 70.5"

Callum "Mundo" Smith:

Height: 6' 3"
Reach: 78"

Smith's best tactic would be to try and make those stats, particularly the extra 7.5" reach, count by keeping the fight at range and out pointing Alvarez. Only trouble is that Alvarez is a very quick boxer and I just can't see him allowing that to happen. He'll probably try to counter Smith's jabs by ducking out of the way and then getting in close and landing a lot of close range shots, probably a lot of body shots followed by some uppercuts. I'm still picking Alvarez for now but it really is a close one.

I’ve always said that I think Smith was the one to beat Canelo. His ability to fight on the inside and his raw power is brilliant. Excellent jab as well. He’s also from my home city so rooting for him here

I think size may play a factor as well
