My main takeaways from this event:

Predictions: 11 of 15 Winners, 2 Perfect, 600 Points   |   Tied for 1016th

  • The undercard fighters are more often than not the true standouts
  • Song Yadong is better than I gave him credit for, but so is Kyler Phillips. Both should be ranked IMO.
  • James Krause might not win coach of the year, but he's obviously making his fighters leaps and bounds better than they were at other big camps.
  • Yan is 10x the fighter I gave him credit for
  • The next LH champion is going to be Ankalaev because I think Deadman's Noose Jan beats everyone else.

Yan vs Aljo

Predictions: 5 of 8 Winners, 0 Perfect, 250 Points   |   Tied for 4442nd

Aljo posting a picture holding the belt like he earned it is cringey, he was getting dominated. Jon Jones posted a comment about how its ok, if Anthony Smith would have taken the DQ you know it would't be ok.

Dan Hardy acted like a ******* alot, the only thing ill miss is having a guy with a English accent making the European shows more classy. I am sure they can find a replacement who doesnt scream at Herb Dean and make himself look insane from the commentary booth.

Oddly enough Dan Hardy is the reason i became a fan of MMA. That red Mohawk knocking people out was what initially got my attention as a kid. i'll always be a fan. I do find it strange that a pro wrestling reporter is the one who broke the story?

Sterling was clearly hurt but his issue was that he said he was not pleased with how he got the belt.  A short bit afterwards, there are pics of him celebrating.  lol.

I think the biggest issue everyone has it that he was presumably losing the fight. If he was winning and Yan threw that out of desperation or frustration and got DQ'd everyone would be fine with it. The problem is he was basically dead in the water. That round and the third he was basically flopping around on his back and his punches were dead slow and had no effect anymore. It was the beginning of the end for him and he got bailed out.. Personally i agree with Big John. The fight should have been stopped right there due to the illegal strike and gone to the judges scorecards. since round 4 only had a minute left they could have scored that round. Most likely would have been a 2-2 draw at that point and the belt doesn't change hands.

@hideff actually Dave Meltzer from the wrestling Observer has been around forever and has covered and broke mma stories since the begining of time. He actually covered UFC 1. Crazy long history he has.

I do think a technical decision would have been best. The ref said it was intentional. It wasnt intentional at all on my opinion. His corner told him to throw it and he obeyed immediately. In the heat of the moment and during a nasty prolonged battle, you are not thinking clearly and when he heard the instruction, he followed.

I dont think its a mis understanding of the rules or even a language barrier issue.

It was the angle of what is observable to Yan. He could not see the feet or knees of his opponent. Thus he asked for instruction from his coach.

The referee did mention to Yan he was down. But that was before he asked his coach what to do. He is trained to obey the coach.

This is why is was unintentional in my opinion and should have went to the score cards for a technical decision

I think it can only be considered unintentional if the knee wasn't meant to hit Aljamains head.
