Its funny that the tonight PFL card was better then last saturday UFC card. The same fighter that all goes to decision in PFL 1 show lot more of urgency tonight.

@Goldo @Mmagoru123

Yeah she definitely needs to work on her ground game before she could talk about fighting Nunes or Harrison.

Great card...

Predictions: 8 of 9 Winners, 5 Perfect, 540 Points   |   Tied for 8th with 3 others

Not a very hard card to predict overall, but I think Olivier Aubin Mercier over Held was a smart pick, and I was kind of surpised about him being such a big underdog.

OAM had a very decent TUF and UFC run (7 wins in the UFC, including a sub over Dober and a TKO over Dunham, 4 losses but all of them by decision, 3 of them against very solid competition in Gilbert Burns, Alex Hernandez and Carlos Diego Ferreira), showing a well rounded game, some good strength, decent striking and power, good durability, his only clear weakness being a bad cardio.

Held on the other side was very disapointing in losses to Diego Sanchez (in 2016 he was already in serious decline) and Joe Lauzon (granted this one was a robbery, but having a competitive fight vs Lauzon in 2017 is a bad look for any young fighter), and a bad KO vs Hadzovic...
A few wins over the Diego Brandaos of the world did nothing to convince me he could hang with someone like OAM.
His submission skills are impressive, but the strongest and more well rounded man got the win last night.

It will be very ineresting to see his next fight in this tournament.

Finally got around the watching it. Not very impressed with Claressa Shields. She won but she beat a 3-6 fighter after loosing the 1st and 2nd round. Also it showed her ground game is really really really bad and needs ton of work. If Elkins didn't gas or fade she would have just grappler her way to victory. Shields made really bad grappling choices and looked amateuish. I haven't seen anything that shows any potential top 10. I know it's her 1st MMA fight ever but Claressa claiming she's coming for Amanda Nunes or literally anyone top 25 is a sad joke at this point and a testimant of her ego that will be he undoing. This is not boxing. You can be the goat of any sport but this is MMA and your other sports goat status means absolute **** here. She better development 10years or wrestling and jiu jitsu real fast.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Claressa Shields. She struggled, no doubt, but she overcame big time adversity and won. She pushed no Boxing > MMA agenda despite being a top-of-her-class athlete in boxing. She approached this fight as an MMA fighter and fought an MMA fight. She had a nice sprawl a couple times, she initiated the ground game a couple times when she could've very easily let Elkin stand up.

You could say that was bad fight IQ, but I look at it as a boxer truly up the task of fighting an MMA fight. Her opponent has a bad record, but that doesn't matter. It's her first MMA fight and it was against a BJJ brown belt. She could've declined and fought a striker who had a similarly bad record. She took one of the harder paths to her first MMA win and I think she should be commended for it.

She defended an armbar, she clearly knew what she was doing defensively as a grappler. She just wasn't experienced enough yet. I think she deserves nothing but props for this. There is a reason virtually no other pro boxer will do this. She seems genuinely interested in making a run at MMA, even after struggling last night. She used it as learning experience and seemed to have a blast.

I think anyone saying anything negative about her needs to not. People **** on boxers only challenging MMA fighters in boxing fights, and Shield didn't do that. She took an MMA fight and made her first fight come against a grappler, devoted 6 months into defense and sprawl training, and she won. Massive respect to her and I wish her well!

@Mikelovestacos,
The problems is Claressa was braggin the week prior the fight that she already could beat half the the 155pds PFL roster and she was very close to lose againts a girl who was know to not being able to take punch.

I dont know why theres that much noise about her switch to MMA, it was lot less then that when Holy Holm made the same move and i'm pretty sure Claressa shield MMA career wont be close to wath Holy Holm did.
