Well, I figured I'd make the picks today since my dumbass missed the last event. Probably a good thing seeing as how there were 3 big upsets.

I have been trying to sell myself on the idea that Millender can beat Rory MacDonald.

As a Canadian, seeing how ******* abysmal Canadian MMA has been as of late, I'd love a Rory win. But I feel like a lot of people are counting Millender out when they maybe shouldn't.

Rory MacDonald looked very uninspired throughout a good amount of his Bellator run leading to his eventual exit. He's hinted at retirement at least 5x in the past 3 years or so. He's clearly not 100% committed to MMA. Not that I blame him, and I also don't blame him for taking a shot at $1 million in PFL. But it's worth taking that into consideration.

He looked pretty uninspired a year and half - two years ago, but I guess we'll see how he looks now. Maybe he'll be revitalized. Millender himself used to be a lethal finisher, and I think that version of Millender upsets the 2018 - 2019 version of Rory MacDonald. But Millender has fallen back quite a bit a well and lost to a few guys that imo he's clearly better fighters than. Namely Sabah Homasi.

So this fight is a total toss-up imo. Picking Millender for the potential at an upset, but I think that Rory may decision him if Millender fights the way he has been fighting lately.

Excited to see Ray Cooper III and Aleksakhin back in there, though. Two really good fighters that don't get enough love.

Aleksakhin is probably the only "lock" on this card and as we saw in the first PFL event, that not mean anything.

Just realise if I bet separated straight bet on Millender, Ponnet and Camozzi I only need one of them to win to make money. All of 3 have lost fight they should not in the pass.

Still not sure if its a good move or not.

I haven't pulled the trigger because I'm a bit risk averse. But Millender has value if I'm being honest, because of all the reasons that @Mike says. When Rory is on point he's a savage on par with the best of them, but he's looked very flat in many of his fights since he left the UFC. I don't think Millender will win, but I give him way better odds than the bookies are.

but i can understand it (they are a 'smaller' promotion, plus the 'new commentetor', they want to give it a little more)!

i'm a keep it 100, any of you insinuating there is value on Millender simply because of his odds are foolish.
I would much rather ride with the red king who's actually beaten credible opponents recently.
rather than millender who has never been anyone ever and has lost every big fight he's ever had.
I personally think Millender sucks bad. like Awful, like terrible, like ****. I will give him credit that he gave Sabah troubles...and sabah recently gave paul daley a great fight.
but I will never ever vouch for that butt for a brain fighter. ever.
i'll take alex caceres to beat millender

is under on ray cooper at plus money, under on antonio carlos junior, and possibly chris camozzi or the over on that fight. I do lean emiliano sordi but he is not as big or as in shape as camozzi.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 6 of 8 Winners, 3 Perfect, 430 Points   |   53rd Place

MacDonald vs. Millender
Rory MacDonald, SUB, R2
In the last week of the PFL we got many upsets like the victory of Collard vs. Pettis or that past season champs Lance Palmer and Nathan Schulte were surprised by newcomers Marcin Held and Bubba Jenkins, but to believe that Curtis Millender has a chance against Rory MacDonald seems like an exaggeration to me. Millender is just a flying knee spammer. He doesn't have dangerous boxing, he doesn't have good takedown defense, he doesn't have great distance control, he can't defend himself once he's on the ground. Rory MacDonald is not the same as before but I see him doing a fight similar to the one he did vs. Paul Daley: dodging punches, getting takedowns and getting a submission in the second round. I'm not saying that Rory MacDonald ends up being the PFL champion of the season or that he can't be surprised by tournament fighters like Magomedkerimov or even Kunchenko, but I'm sure Millender has 0 chances to win tonight.

Júnior vs. Lawlor
Antônio Carlos Júnior, SUB, R1
If there is any chance of an upset happening, this is the fight with the highest chance. Tom Lawlor has always been characterized by having a good takedown defense, while Cara Do Sapato has had a hard time landing takedowns in his last fights. For my pick I have in mind that despite the aforementioned aspect at some point in the first round, Antonio Carlos Junior will cut the distance and after taking Lawlor to the ground and controlling Lawlor he will be able to get the rear-naked choke, but the possibilities that Lawlor will maintain the He fights standing up for most of the fight and that at the end of the round he manages to take the scorecards (29-28 x3) is a very real possibility, since it is practically what happened in the last 3 defeats of the Brazilian.

i know MMA Math is ridiculed but I think the Giant will win by being too big.
