Anyone wanna start a petition to the UFC to change the Main and Co main event this weekend. I'd much rather see a potential 5 rounds between Sandhagen and Edgar than i would any heavyweights in the world. How did this make sense to anyone? The BW's are higher ranked as well. #2vs#4 compared to #5vs#6.

@HiDefff

Because they see Reem as the king of Fight Night main events (and rightfully so IMO). This will be his 7th.

@hideff nope, I like that the HW fight is 5 rounds, especially with reem talking about a run at the belt. If anything I'd like more 5-rounders on this card, and I agree Sandhagen vs Edgar would be better as 5 rounds. But if they were going to change the main event, it should be Dariush vs Ferreira as a 5 round fight, that would be amazing.

If there are any 2 heavyweights that can go a full 5 these are them, Stipe, DC, and Cain of course are in that mix

The longer this fight goes, the more interesting it will be. I hope we get at least a round and a half of action, I could see this fight getting extremely brutal

I'd rather watch Overeem VS Volkov over 5 rounds instead of the Sandhagen VS Edgar fight but both would be great over 5 rounds. Compared to a lot of other weeks, this weeks card is quite a good one in my opinion and the Sandhagen VS Edgar fight could easily have headlined another card.

I preffer Overeem-Volkov as 5 round fight. I dont want one of them to take a safe 3rounds wins on point. They both can be knock late fight (Volkov-Lewis & Overeem-Rozenstruik)

I also will have love to see Dariush-Ferreira being 5 round. I feel this one will be very close in a 3 round.

Rodriguez v Marques

Predictions: 9 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 555 Points   |   Tied for 338th

This fight is actually difficult for me to call. Rodriguez has shown some really good Muay Thai with sharp elbows and hard knees to the gut. He also has a good front kick to keep opponents from getting inside. But I have some real reservations about this style matchup. Marques does everything to set up the shot. He throws feints, which has gotten Rodriguez to bite in the past (à la Da Un Jung), and he gets takedowns from wrapping up on the fence. Rodriguez has shown a real weakness for getting people off of him when they press him to the fence. He also walks straight back to the fence as opposed to side-stepping when he’s pressured, guaranteeing that at some point he’ll end up there. Here Rodriguez can rely on the Thai plum to get Marques off, but Marques can respond by catching the leg or getting the high-crotch takedown.  Marques’ style of takedown off the cage is also bad for Rodriguez since it’s a BJJ takedown with an outside sweep of the leg rather than the typical wrestler single or double leg. This means that the wide stance that Rod used to defend against Ed Herman or Devin Clark probably won’t be that effective this time. Rodriguez will have volume on his side as I think he’ll out strike Marques, but I don’t know if it’ll be enough to put him away before Marques can get him down and climb to his back. Both of these guys tend to get tired, which means the longer it goes, the less likely there will be a finish. With Rodriguez’s tendency to back up to the fence, and with as many kicks as Marques will have to grab, I gotta go with the underdog on this one--Marques via early sub or ugly dec.

Rodriguez vs Marques has that same feel as Khalil Roundtree vs Marcin Prachnio on the last card.

Slow Mike should be able to take advantage of a step down in competition....but he's one of those guys you never feel confident that he's gonna do what he needs to do to win the fight...or he's gonna have a mental lapse and get submitted or lose a greasy decision as RangerJW just stated above.

Stamann v Askar

Predictions: 9 of 12 Winners, 3 Perfect, 555 Points   |   Tied for 338th

Someone mentioned earlier that Askar is a beast, and they’re right. Askar is aggressive with good forward pressure, and if he gets his opponent to the ground he can be really heavy on top. However, he’s most dangerous in the first round and slows down a bit as the fight goes. Stamann on the other hand keeps a consistent pace and has a pretty good gas tank. He has good movement, throws feints and threatens takedowns, and is pretty explosive in those pocket exchanges. The thing is, Stamann is a relatively low-volume striker, and when he uses his wrestling, which is top-notch, he uses it to secure position rather than look for a finish. In other words, he doesn’t take a lot of risks. Askar takes a ton of risks and is vulnerable to counter punches as a result. (He was recently KO’d walking into a brawl with Saidyokub Kakharamonov.) I think this gives Stamann the edge. He’s faster than Askar IMO and is really explosive in those brawl-type scenarios. If Stamann gets the KO, it’ll be on a brawl that Askar initiates, and I think there’s a decent chance of that happening. If Askar doesn’t get KO’d, it’ll at least earn Stamann some respect and give him the space he needs to implement his safe but dominating game plan. Askar also has some wrestling chops, but from what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t say it’s better than Stamann’s. Stamann by early stoppage or dec.

Rivera shouldn't be fighting again so soon. That was a fight that wears on both guys, I would say the same thing if Francisco had taken this fight.
