I didn't realise that 15 Round fights were still sanctioned these days seeing as most major sanctioning bodies moved to 12 Round fights in the years following the tragic Mancini VS Kim fight.

Yeah, I thought that they were outlawed too. But, Mexico gonna do Mexico!!!
It's still scheduled for 15 rounds and has full commission backing.

There's also an undercard but, as per fookin usual with any boxing card in Mexico, who knows who'll end up fighting on it!!???

@Mikey1903

Which commission is sanctioning it? I'm assuming not the major ones like the IBF, WBA, WBC, WBO ect. Must be some regional Mexican one?

Am I correct in thinking that the WBC are the ones with the "Franchise Champion" belts and all that other BS? I don't really care about the belts anyway, I consider the Lineal Champion from each division to be the champ.

Yup, you are correct!! *** is a fookin Franchise Champion???
That's not even the worst. They just created a "Front line" belt for the Tyson Jones joke!!! They also have  Interim, International, Silver, Asian, International Silver!!!

The WBA are the WORST!!!!  They have 3 Champions for every division!  You get the WBA World, WBA Regular, WBA Gold. Oh and they have several WBA Interim World Champions!!!!!

All these sanctioning bodies are a joke. More than that they are ruining the sport.  There's 18 weight divisions,  4 Champions in each division, plus another 4 or 5 Interim/Regular/Gold Champions in each division. That's well over 100 World Champions!  How can you say that you are a legit World Champion when there's 100 other ******s with belts!???

It's all down to greed! Because these sanctioning bodies get a percentage of every fight that has a title. So they create all these ******** belts to get their cut!!! Disgusting!

Sorry, you sent me off on 1 there bud!!! Haha

@Mikey1903

It's important to rant against this BS! If there are 18 divisions then there should only be 36 World Champions (Including the women's but I'm not sure if women have the same number of divisions as the men so I might be wrong). The only way that all this Belt BS is gonna stop is if the fans stop paying to watch BS Championship fights but that's never gonna happen.

Also, imagine being called the WBA "Regular" Champion! Makes it sound like they are the best average level boxer!

Glad to see you guys ranting about this too, I am fairly new to following boxing but damn it makes it hard to follow with all of these belts / titles.  I honestly I appreciate the rant as a breakdown to help me further my knowledge...even if it is a little silly in the WBA/WBC :)

Yes @aRush, this is another big issue. Besides these crooked sanctioning bodies robbing fighters!
There are SOOOOO many "World" Champions how on earth is a casual fan meant to know what's going on??? Like, if someone was to ask me who's the best Middleweight in the world I'd have to be like " Well Canelo is thought by many to be the no. 1 Middleweight boxer in the World. But he doesn't have a Middleweight Title. Oh and then there's Charlo, he's the WBC Champion. GGG the IBF. But they don't fight each other to see who is the best. No, no, no. They have to waste years fighting mandatories!! Guys who aren't even top 20 Middleweights but they have beaten enough cans and paid enough sanctioning fees to earn a shot!!

I mean ***!!??? I am confused myself and I am a life long boxing hardcore who watches fights everywhere from Russia to o Japan to Germany to the USA!!!

How's a casual fan meant to know what the **** is going on????

Aagghhh!!!!! I'm ranting again, sorry! Haha

@aRush

Quite simply, there are 4 major sanctioning bodies (WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF) in boxing so that's already 4 World Champions per division. On top of this, and I'm gonna point directly at the WBC and WBA as the worst offenders here, each sanctioning body keeps creating new belts and calling them things like "Franchise" "Interim" "Super" "Gold" "Silver" "Regular" ect so now JUST ONE sanctioning body can have MULTIPLE belts per division so that there are more "World Champions". As @Mikey1903 said earlier in this thread, they are doing it to line their own pockets so that they can get more money out of these "World Title" fights.

From the fan's perspective, this raises the obvious question: who the **** is the World Champion?

Boxing has got to such as state that each fan has to make up their own mind who the champion is. I go by the lineage (the guy who beat the World Champion, who beat the previous World Champion, who beat the previous World Champion going back to the days when it was generally considered that there was only one World Champion but this can sometimes be hard to trace). My old man goes by whoever Ring Magazine says is the World Champion and I personally think that Ring Magazine (dating back to 1922) has far more credibility than any of these sanctioning bodies.

As many people have said before: if everyone's a champion then nobody is!

Yeah Stephen. I put more stock into The Ring Magazine rankings too. Their top 10 for each division is pretty solid.  ESPN have decent rankings too.
BoxRec can be a bit off. Because they have some kind of formula.  Not sure exactly how it works, but an example of them being way off is that theyhave. DeontayWilder.4.) Povetkin (8).In the P4P top 10 and Naoya Inou, Usyk and Loma  all outside the top 20!!!!

They also have Chris Eubank Jr rated WAYYYY toohigh.3 They have him as the 3rd best Middleweight in theworld!! Even worse they have him 30thP4P! WUT!!!

The WBC, WBA, WBO rankings are basically  whoever has paid them the mostsanctioning fees!!

Iwill say the IBF are the best out of the lot IMO.Theystick to their rules

@Mikey1903

Yeah, I sometimes look at BoxRec's rankings and think "OK then" but if they are trying to rank them using some formula then you will get funny results. Ironically, the "sweet science" can't be measured scientifically as there are so many factors to take into account such as the time period, how strong the division was at the time, did they fight the best during their prime ect.

As it happens I've just filled out a ranking (MMA Welterweights) and was wondering if there was a best P4P boxing ranking on Tapology? It's not one of the official ones but maybe a user in the past has created one? I'm asking you as if there was any, then you'd be most likely to know about it. There are some boxing rankings by the users but I haven't found a P4P one yet.

Yes mate. You were right to ask me!!! Haha!!!

I created both Male and Female P4P Boxer Rankings.

I over 100 for the men, 50 for the women.

It'd be great if you add your list. I'm trying to get more people interested in the boxing on this site. More people picking events, talking about boxing and filling out rankings helps.

I'm just away to post the links
