You guys see the article where GSP is now walking around in the mid 190's?

You never know how hard a man can fight for a title match, but I can't predict other thing than a crushing decision for St-Pierre

I would give Shields a much better chance if he didn't look so wiped out after his last weight cut. I think the cut to 170 hurts him more than he thinks it does.

Ok i finally watched the Shields vs Mayhem fight. On the promo for UFC 129 Joe Rogan says that Shields sent Mayhem packing. I have to disagree yeah he was able to take him down and control him on the ground but Mayhem doesn't even look like he is trying to fight back he is just relaxing and letting Shields do his thing. It looked like Shields was trying to hump his leg for 25 minutes. Plus Mayhem came closer to finishing the fight and, he was causing more damage on the ground(what time he was in the dominant position) . Don't get me wrong I like Shields as a fighter and I do respect his skills but he seems like he is to content to just lay on top of guys and ride out a decision something GSP has been accused of doing, at least that is what he has done lately. If Shields would have used one of the hundred chances he had to finish Henderson I would probably think differently about him.

unless gsp gets caught I don't see him losing at all. He's so good at staying out of trouble.

Georges by whatever he wants, If Shields can get a takedown in the first round there could be trouble but ive got that at about 5% chance of happening

Trends show that St. Pierre by decision is the safest bet. However a small side of me has a feeling that GSP may potentially submit Shields around the third round. But then again maybe I'm reading too much into this fight and not thinking clearly.

Jake Shields is a really great fighter. Unfortunately for him, GSP is even better, and is a terrible stylistic matchup for him. I think GSP will finally get that finish that fans have been dogging him about lately.

Given his past few fights, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that GSP will finish Shields unless he severely gasses.

I really can't believe that 44% think that he will.

Prediction: wrong Shields   wrong Submission   wrong Round 2

I still keep changing my mind on this one.  I spent some time last night watching a bunch of Jake Shields fights, trying to get a solid feel for how he would perform against GSP.  As of right now, I'm starting to sway more toward GSP winning the fight in his typical fashion, because I'm not sure I'm confident Shields has an answer to that.  Shields has gassed in fights previously, and has at times, looked unimpressive against moderate level competition.  Martin Kampmann gave him all he could handle, and GSP's stand-up AND ground game are leagues beyond Kampmann's, when speaking in terms of MMA.

There's always a fighter's chance that Jake Shields might be able to lock in a submission, because more than likely, GSP is going to take this fight to the ground at some point.  Shields loves to be on his back, but dominates the top game even more so.  If he can sweep GSP or catch him in a submission from guard, St. Pierre may have trouble reversing or escaping, because Shields' jiu-jitsu is top shelf.  This is an interesting fight.  A part of me keeps saying that Shields is going to pull off the upset by catching St. Pierre off guard with a submission, but the surer bet is GSP by decision.

@RWLawman : You are right about Shields' jiu-jitsu. This is why I think GSP will try to stay on his feet like he did agains't Koscheck.

GSP will be taken down and he will find out how good Shields ground game really is. Shields will have no problem in this fight if he end up on top. However I'm not sold on the fact that he can take GSP down. Shields hasn't shown himself to be the most explosive athlete. Regardless Shields round 3 armbar
