Prediction Comments

Predictions: 8 of 14 Winners, 4 Perfect, 540 Points   |   Tied for 2092nd

Covington vs. Woodley
Colby Covington, DEC
hard to have faith in woodley and colby looked as good as ever last time out.

Cerrone vs. Price
Donald Cerrone, TKO, R2
bad streak for cowboy but hard to fault him for most of the losses. niko is hittable/finishable and is the type of middling action opponent that cowboy has historically run over.

Chimaev vs. Meerschaert
Khamzat Chimaev, SUB, R2
without disrespecting gerald, i think chimaev's aggression is gonna control this fight.

Walker vs. Spann
Ryan Spann, DEC
if spann wrestles then he can control this, but if he lets it become a brawl then that's bad news i think.

Dern vs. Markos
Randa Markos, DEC
dern's striking is still so bad that she almost got ko'd by cifers. randa gets sloppy, but i wanna believe that she can win the standup and avoid ending up on her back.

Holland vs. Stewart
Kevin Holland, DEC
holland just seemingly has more consistency in my eyes.

Espinosa vs. Dvořák
David Dvořák, DEC
i'll go with dvorak even though espinosa looked improved last time out. just seems like more of a threat and less likely to be finished.

Bektić vs. Jackson
Mirsad Bektić, DEC
bektic needs this one badly. could be a fun grappling exchange or could be him knocking jackson's head off early.

Bueno Silva vs. Borella
Mayra Bueno Silva, SUB, R2
seems odd that they even have borella still around on a current 3 fight skid. hard to find a reason to pick her.

Alpar vs. Clark
Jessica-Rose Clark, DEC
guessing clark can win the striking.

Minner vs. Laramie
T.J. Laramie, DEC
laramie would seem to have the better record and hasn't been subbed 8 times.

Costa vs. Newson
Journey Newson, DEC
screw it, i'll take newson, he didn't get finished by brandon davis.

Ewell vs. Rivera
Andre Ewell, DEC
guessing ewell can use his height/reach advantages to keep it an outside fight.

Nam vs. Rivera
Tyson Nam, TKO, R2
nam could always blow it, but he can also compete with some of the best.

Ewell vs. Rivera
Irwin Rivera, DEC
Ugh. Tough one. You'd think Ewell would cruise here with his size, but the truth is I find him quite passive. That could probably be why a lot of fights he wins are close. Rivera has a shot if he makes the fight messy. ....That's about it here. I'm picking Rivera, but not confident.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 6 of 11 Winners, 2 Perfect, 365 Points   |   Tied for 2870th

Covington vs. Woodley
Colby Covington, DEC
Colby via 5 rounds of domination as long as he doesn’t get knocked out in the first round, then his pace should get to woodley

Cerrone vs. Price
Donald Cerrone, SUB, R3
Cowboys superior everywhere but Price is VERY dangerous, my guess is they end up on the floor and cowboy subs him

Chimaev vs. Meerschaert
Khamzat Chimaev, TKO, R2
Khamzat by ground and pound

Holland vs. Stewart
Kevin Holland, DEC
If Kevin wrestles Darren I think it could be an easy night for him but he should be okay on the feet too but think it’s better for him to wear on him

Espinosa vs. Dvořák
Jordan Espinosa, DEC
This is a 50/50 but I’ll take Espinosa, I wasn’t that impressed with Dvorak debuts

Bektić vs. Jackson
Mirsad Bektić, DEC
Bektic via defending submissions and top control

Bueno Silva vs. Borella
Mayra Bueno Silva, TKO, R3
Silva is superior everywhere and has a big strength advantage. Can see her getting the finish wherever or dominating.

Minner vs. Laramie
T.J. Laramie, SUB, R2
Should be TJ’s night as long as he defends those early submission attempts he should take over

Costa vs. Newson
Journey Newson, TKO, R3
Picking Newson because Costa tends to wind up on his shots and gas out after the first round but I’m not 100% sure with this fight. Potential fight of the night.

Ewell vs. Rivera
Andre Ewell, DEC
Ewell should be too quick and accurate on the feet for this guy.

Nam vs. Rivera
Tyson Nam, DEC
Nam throws single shots and doesn’t really leave himself open for takedowns, also the better striker too. He should win this as long as he lets his go because Rivera looks to make everything a grappling match

Covington vs. Woodley
Colby Covington, DEC
My ******* god do I despise Covington, but He's goona win this fight, I really do believe. Woodley hasn't shown me anything lately to make me change my mind.

Holland vs. Stewart
Kevin Holland, TKO, R2
Avoid Stewarts Hellacious R1, Take out a gassed Stewart in R2

Espinosa vs. Dvořák
David Dvořák, DEC
Dvorak is back!

@fish I have a felling Woodly gonna be reading Colby a bed time rap and I’m tempted to switch my pick, MMA is to random with one shot knock outs, mutiple different way to win , want to bet Woodly but I already have money on Markos and to many bets are bad- Ps u should get peer presser into Markos, unless Dern is the female Brian Ortega then I don’t see her winning as Markos has the wrestling and off a lost

@Fish No doubt a motivated T-Boner wood starch Colby, IMO. I just haven’t seen him motivated in years. I know a guy like Colby can bring that dog back outta Woodly. However, I’m sticking with the Clownington because desire in sports can be tough to channel. Once you stop giving a **** it can be hard to bring it all back in outta despise for one opponent. That said,  I definitely can see T-Boner winning the fight. If both guys are at their best, I’ll take T-Boner every time.

All that said, if Woody does win, it’s still your fault. It’s still your  wrong pick, for giving into peer pressure. Haha.

Yea, DH420, I hear you.  Overall  I think Markos is a good pick and probably the better all round fighter. She has the skillset to pull off the upset here. The problem is I just can’t see her implementing the game plan where she avoids the clinch and grappling exchanges. It come down to her fight IQ. Not that I think she’s a dummy all the time, but how she fights plays into Dern’s strength. She has the better wrestling I believe. I’m just not convinced she’ll be able to use it properly and avoid those ground exchanges. I hope I’m wrong and she wins. I can see her on top and avoiding the subs but Im Swaying slightly towards Dern. Rooting for Markos though.

If we had to rank our picks in order of confidence, like some other lock order leagues (mmajunkie/weekly style) those two and Cerrone would be my bottom three.Walker would be 4.

@Damien. I can totally see Woodly showing up tonight and surprising us. Colby is a beast but he may be looking past Woodly and, if that's the case, he can easily get caught and finished. Woodly has looked off his last 3 fights but has all the clout form a good career that has kept him relevant.  Colby has been talking with his mouth and backing it up with his fists for a bit now. Not a big fan but skill is skill. I really think Colby takes it slow and jabs the hell out of Tyron.
