Most Picked Fighter: Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone
- Picked 13 times
- Correct 12 times
What most surprised me about this was that all the picks I made on Cerrone ended on 2015. I have not made a pick on him since.

I'm telling you that you have no idea what you're talking about because you saying things that make no sense.
"gems are yick"
"domain classes are obese"
"doesn't seem conducive to machine learning"
You might have read about some of this stuff and and are trying to learn about it. Great, that's a good thing. But you are acting like you know what you're talking about, which is (a) weird, and (b) annoying.
The things you are saying are nonsensical, like if you went to a car mechanic, and said, no, you're doing it all wrong! That wrench is soft! That gasket has gamma rays! The mechanic would say what the **** are you talking about?
For anyone else reading along, that's what's happening here. And my guess is you are for some reason afraid to admit that you don't really know what you're talking about, so you won't back down. Sorry man.

And it isn't conducive to machine learning. At all. I'm not even saying that's something this site could benefit from (I suspect it could) or that you even care. But nobody uses it in that capacity.
This site is what--ten years old and still doesn't have a mobile app? If you had actually spent more time working in PHP/ Javascript or Objective C it would probably have been done years ago. Or maybe not because you're a one-man show who as to do everything and that's a massive workload.
And while we're on it, don't you get bored out of your skull working in something as creatively restrictive as rails?
Anyway, I can't understand why you would even care if I or anyone else trashes Rails. It's a platform, not one of your relatives. And being critical of it is not the same as criticizing your ability or the work you've done here. I've literally repeatedly said that Tapology is the best MMA site there is.
It's insane Greg. Insane. Why do I have to like it? You make it work for Tap. That's fine. Twitter dumped it because of scaling issues. It's known to be heavily resource-demanding. Gems (libraries) aren't a patch on Python's.
I'm not just 'Dr Googling' everything. I'm literally undertaking private programming tuition currently and will be starting Comp Science in 2021--that's assuming a recognizable civilization exists at that point. Just Python and a little bit of mechatronics so far ( I actually enjoy this more than the coding but it's a very expensive degree in Australia and requires full attendance, so that won't be happening).
When I look at what Python can do vs Ruby/Rails, I cannot understand why anyone would choose the latter in 2020. That's if, like me, you're starting from the ground-up. I can understand why you won't switch because it would be a ******* nightmare and it doesn't need to happen anyway.
But please; don't tell me I'm just pulling **** out of my ass. I'm not saying I know as much as you do. I'm not saying I could do a better job than you do. I'm not criticizing you at all. But yes, I do understand how programming languages function enough, at least, to have a moderately informed opinion on them.

This conversation isn't going anywhere and isn't productive in any way, and we should stop it.

Thanks, I'm not going anywhere @fish and I make a point to not bring grudges from one thread to another.
Also, there are plenty of valid criticisms that can be levied against this website. E.g. while I take issue with other things that you are saying, it's obviously true that we have a mobile-friendly problem.
