The third was technical dominance, even if you say he did no damage in the round (which is a bit ridiculous, the fight almost got stopped a few times from ground and pound). Henderson was taken down seconds into the round and literally had ZERO offense through out the round, because Shogun was on top. I guarantee fightmetric scores that one a 10-8.

@greg, well even if it was different judges it's ******** that this scenario can even happen. One guy gets two 10-8s for laying in side control and another guy gets a 10-9 for passing at will and landing some great shots on the ground.

@mino you can't say Henderson had zero offense cause he threw punches from mount bottom!! lol

But Henderson wasn't hurt from the ground and pound in the 5th round. He was always defending himself and moving around it's not like Hendo was just getting ounched in the face and not doing anything.

They both had 10-8 rounds, I think it was the right decision.

Dude it doesn't matter if he's hurt or not, the ref almost stopped it. If how hurt they were was the criteria, Nogueira would be 3-0 against Fedor. He took huge shots but he never even came close to getting put out. It's the same thing here. Shogun landed flurries of 5 or 6 punches that would put the average guy out, but because Henderson has a superhuman chin he didn't get hurt.

Even if Shogun didn't land a single punch in that round, it was 10-8. Henderson was too tired to do anything and he got positionally dominated.

@swick, I'm not really arguing that Shogun deserved the decision, I scored it a draw (Shogun did enough at the end to deserve a 9-10 round imo) but I could see the 3rd being 10-8. All I'm saying is that there is no chance the 5th wasn't 10-8.

I agree, I wouldn't have been extremely mad if it was a draw, I just think Hendo slighted it.

That fight had to set the record for near-stoppages. He came close to jumping in several times for each of them.

That's not true though. Dana's opinion matters because it determines who each guy will fight next, Keith Kizer's opinion matters because maybe he'll wake the hell up after this and define a 10-8. My opinion matters because I'm mad as hell at the scoring system and I need to vent.

Awesome photo.  An elite wrestler and a jujitsu black belt beat the crap out of each other for 5 rounds and then hug in pictures afterward.  This is MMA.
