Looking at this card, it looks like the UFC is pretty cool with trying to bury the Flyweight title a second time. Didn’t even know the damn thing was on the line next weekend...

This is a pathetic card outside the main and a couple prelims. Poor choice of fights to put on the main card as well.

Nothing excites me about this card, but these are the type of cards that end up having a lot of exciting fights.

Brendan Allen vs. Tom Breese.... The return of Tom Breese isn't exciting? Dude's a legit top 15 guy. Hampered by personal reasons. Ismail Naurdiev vs. Sean Brady is ****-king outstanding matchmaking...

I think this is a perfectly fine card. Excited and predicting uthe small upset for both Breese and Ion. The lady fights are both interesting, they should both be a bit one sided but exciting and the main event is just about the best fight you could make at flyweight so pretty decent for a "fight night" card.

I'm oddly excited for Spivak/Tybura too. I expect Tybura to be a little desperate in this one against a very beatable opponent.

lol y’all can downvote my last comment all you want, but if you think putting the flyweight title on a Fight Night in Virginia, with this lineup, is anything other than burying the most important fight in the division, than I have some beachfront property in Idaho I’d like to sell you. UFC couldn’t give two ****s about this division if this is their way of saving it and keeping it around. **** like this is why nobody though DJ was a draw, there was nothing else on the cards to catch the casual fans eye. But keep calling this card good when all y’all really are talking about is the Tom Breese fight. Can’t wait.

On balance this card is a *************. There's a few good fights, but this isn't the sort of thing I'd pay for.

I went back and compared this to the past few ESPN+ cards and honestly its pretty par for the course. One exciting to semi-exciting headliner and then maybe one supporting. Fight and not much else. Albeit with the notable exception of Reyes vs Weidman, that one was kinda stacked.

Seems to me that the UFC just kinda builds blase ESPN+ cards and relies on the PPVs to draw subscribers. With the amount of events going on these kinds of cards are essential to building up records and sitting through newcomers.

That being said I would definitely agree that the flyweight title is be being buried here. I still stand by my "it's a decent card statement" but maybe that's just because I love me some fights.

Figueiredo will lose this fight. He doesn't have the wrestling nor the conditioning to deal with Benavidez. After two rounds its in the bag.

Benavidez vs. Figueiredo
Joseph Benavidez, TKO, R4
Joe B will tire out Figueiredo with wrestling and pressure and it'll become evident mid-fight. I think he stops him in the 4th via ground and pound or he gets a dominant UD.

Benavidez will be champ come this weekend. He's too fast, his cardio is too good, and he's going to push the pace and wear Figueiredo out.

I see an awful lot of confidence in Benavidez and I'm not really sure why?  OK he is a good wrestler and a great scrambler, 1 of the best in MMA, he has some power and good cardio.  But he is old, been in Championship fights since 2010!!  He was losing to Formiga before landing that weird head kick/knee, dropped and near finished by Sergio Pettis, KO'd cold by Mighty Mouse, who has never even wobbled a guy since!  Figuireido has more than enough power to sleep him!
Before you guys get a salty and hurt my feelings by down voting me, oooh that hurts soooo much!  I would say Benavidez is a slight favourite with the scrambling and cardio but I do not see him as an overwhelming favourite.  Simple terms I'd say Figuereido early, Benavidez late.

Also, yeah the card isn'nt stacked.  Of course there are some interesting match ups, Cutelaba v Ankalaev,, Naurdiev v Brady, I like Silva v Phillips too.  But to have not 1 but 2 womens 145 fights on the card is not gonna be good viewing!  Maybe we get some comedy value when Mee-gan gets choked out!  It's a good card if you are a hardcore fan, which if you're on Tapology I'd say you are.  Anyway, I'd watch a couple pigeons fight over a bread crumb so I'll be watching!!!

Benavidez beat Formiga connivingly by tko twice. Formiga beat Figueredo everywhere to earn a decision. Benavidez is a better wrester than both men, Team Alpha Male is known for guillotines, so he won't get caught, just avoid Figueredo's power and slicing elbows from the bottom and this fight is in the bag.

 Benavidez  by whatever presents itself.

The odds are great, there is money to be made here.

Benavidez vs. Figueiredo
Joseph Benavidez
Definitely the fight this division needed. I'm not at all convinced that Joe B can't just do what Formiga did to Figueiredo. If he decides to go full Cain and just kickbox until he's threatened on the feet, that's best case scenario for us watching it. In spite of the fact Deiveson has only lost once, I find it telling how noncompetitive it was, and I also find it interesting that he was able to get off that guillotine on Elliott. Maybe if he hadn't history could have repeated itself. Regardless, I expect Joe B to dig deep and pull this one out.

Tybura vs. Spivak
Sergey Spivak, DEC
I remember when Tybura was being *loosely* considered a future contender at HW. Now I just kind of want whatever shine he has left used to boost guys who will actually become future contenders. I suppose Spivak can be one of those guys, especially since he was basically supposed to be Tuivasa's gimme victory at home. Spivak responded by taking him down at-will, splitting his head open and choking him unconscious. Hilarious. I don't see him being able to blast Tybura out of the fight like Shamil or Sakai so I'm hoping for a decision victory, but you never know, maybe Marcin has finally tuned his head kick setup or boxing to be an actual KO threat. Spivak feels more reliable at the moment.
