Im' a little surprised at this match up. I guess they are trying to keep Faber busy until he Cruz is ready. But the hype talk they were putting behind Faber vs Cruz at the last WEC I thought that was the next match for sure. I guess this isn't too risky a fight for Faber. Wineland is solid but definitely a step down from the people Faber has been facing lately.

Yeah clearly at the last WEC event everyone was hyping the potential Cruz/Faber fight. I haven't heard anything new, but this might mean Cruz is getting hand surgery.

I heard Cruz on the savage dog show a day or two ago and he was saying he had been putting off getting his hand taken care of for the last two fights.

i think...im crazy...but i also think theres a good chance faber is taking wineland lightly and is looking ahead to cruz...loses decision to eddie wineland...yep, im insane.

Wineland isnt as much of a step down as many of you are saying he has the second longest win streak in the division behind Cruz and he finished his last two with a body shot and then a gnarly slam. Of course, that being said I still picked Faber but really what did you expect? :)

@Beastmaster that might never happen. Even with Aldo at featherweight he's a co-main event. The lighter weights don't have the same base with the casual fans that the top five do.

I give it up to a year for the UFC to build their new weight class champions. Their fights are far too exciting to NEVER make a Main Event IMO. Once the casual MMA fans realize how awesome these lighter weight classes are, they will be undeniable for a Main Event.
