It's a shame that were likely not going to be able to see this show Friday. Still no info out yet on a new tv deal or streaming deal.

It's a shame, but more than that it's super ****** what Anthem Sports did here. When they acquired control of AXS tv, they gave everyone zero notice. They just immediately fired everyone.

It might have cost them a little bit of money, but they could have very easily been like "Well, since there's 3 more LFA shows that have announced fight cards, venues, and dates over the next month, we'll show those 3 cards. But after that our deal with LFA is terminated."

It would have been a way more decent and reasonable way to treat everyone involved.

Absolutely! That would have been a much better way to handle things.

I'm reading on twitter from fighters on LFA78 that it appears that event has been cancelled now as well.  Hopefully LFA can secure a new deal at some point before the year is over and give a good platform for up-and-coming fighters again.

I am wondering if their big hurdle is the fact AXS controlled all the production. They would essentially have to either hire their own crew or get a network/streaming service that had the resources available on such a short notice. Which I can't imagine is an easy thing to do.

@Greg what went down would 100% have been known to the original proprietors pre-sale though, and if the majority stakeholders truly gave a **** they'd not have listed it. Everyone knows what is going to happen before it does even in leveraged buyouts, which this thing wasn't. From what I've been able to determine a total of 40 staff members were ****canned. Not great, but that's really not much more than a haircut in terms of scale. Walmart probably hits that every week.

Hopefully Anthem doesn't decide to just dump MMA entirely. It's a big concern and has the resources to develop a high-end promotion. However my feeling overall is that MMA isn't a great bet right now. Investors will be using UFC as the litmus test and probably noticing what I do; a pretty mediocre ROR, and huge amounts of risk (possibility of Ali Act extenuating to MMA) and low gate sales. Bucketloads of externalities.  Empty arenas are not a good look. It would be an immensely daunting thing to get into.

This is why I believe UFC has a relationship with USADA. There's absolutely no ******* way a company would pay well above the market rate for a service that has the ability to not only regulate them, but massively damage their margins. That would be utter madness. They're definitely getting something for their money.

My best guess would be that LFA goes to Fight Pass at this point.  The UFC is supposedly doing a big relaunch in October and wants to have an immense amount of fight content(even teasing fights every day of the week), so LFA would go a long way in helping them achieve that. Plus with the amount of fighters they send to the UFC, the ability to see them on the UFC streaming service/library would make tons of sense.  And I saw people mention on twitter that several former Axis TV mma shows like Titan and CES have already moved to Fight Pass anyways.

I think Anthem wants nothing to do with MMA and wants to be a pro-wrestling only operation.

You know, I've never understood the appeal of pro wrestling. I just don't understand how there's a market for it. I mean, it's basically a bunch of men dressed up like drag queens play fighting.

What am I missing?

way back when there was a regional scene in pro wrestling i attended some mid-south wrestling cards in shreveport, louisana. prolly 1988 or 89. it was a blast, you got to see the guys that were on tv every saturday afternoon. put a pint of whiskey in your hip pocket, root for your faves and yell insults at the villians, everyone know it was fake. it was a great time and fairly cheap to get ringside tickets. i lost interest when they started consolidating all the small promotions into the wwe or what ever it is today.

If you have a subscription to WWE Network, you should watch the Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat matches from Chi-Town Rumble '89, Clash of the Champions VI, Wrestlewar '89 and Spring Stampede 1994.  This is when pro-wrestling was still really good.

Missed watching LFA last night.  OK I got some sleep at a normal time on a weekend but for years I've conditioned my body to stay awake Friday thru Sunday morning then sleep all day Sunday!  The sacrifices I make to watch this is nuts but when there's no late night/early morning fights I don't know what to do with myself!  At least I have Spence Porter for my insomnia later on!
ANYWAY! Hopefully LF sorts a broadcast soon coz I missed it and by the looks of here and Twitter so did most Hardcores!  I hear Fight Pass is an option and that makes most sense to me.  All the talent LFA has provided UFC over the years is in the hundreds so makes sense to showcase them on their streaming platform.  But when does MMA make sense!
