Man Salter won that decision but he lost the fight!
Clung on for dear life at the end!!! That takedown in the 3rd saved it from being a draw!

@ bry It's scoring outcomes like that that make you question the whole system. Not quite as bad as the last Hendo vs Bisping though...

And to be fair, Jaguar is half right. Control and dominance can't be scored unless the primary criteria of immediate damage isn't met by either fighter. Why he's wrong is that for that fight to have been even a draw, the third would have had to have been a 10-8...and you don't get 10-8's finishing the last 30 seconds on your back slipping punches.

Yeah Van Steenis wouldve won under Pride rules.  But he foufht in Bellator, he definitely lost the 1st 2 rounds. Even if he did damage in the 3rd the takedown stopped it being a 10-8. So he lost his shot at a draw no way did he wim
I prefer Pride/ONE scoring because they guy who wins the "fight" wins. With 10-9 scoring it does favour wrestlers/grapplers

You can not score something that does not has an effect or outcome. for example I get you to ground i get one point and than you step back up you get one point. like that the system has to work. how effective were those take downs?

They were effective in terms of control, hence they did have an outcome. In the absence of immediate damage in the first two rounds, cumulative damage becomes the next consideration. That was at least a push, and probably favored saltynuts. If it was a push, then the criteria becomes control. He controlled where the fight went for two rounds. All the damage he took came in the third.
