Randomness about usernames in different colors

This has been on my mind for a few weeks now, annnd yes, Obviously I've not figured **** out, sooo I'm asking the world of Tapology.. Why do certain members usernames appear in different colors. For the most part, their usernames are RED. A little less are Gold or Silver, and very few are Green or Blue. Obviously there's a reason for this or the usernames would just be one color all around. I know, i knooow. It's ******* random, but I warned you

Ok, for example.... Skelliher name is Black. Oddsbot annnd Gregory I believe is Green. Mikeyg and Spotlight23 are Silver. Confusion and Poir420 are Gold. Annnd HaileyBre125 is Blue. (Tho I believe that to be Hailey Cowan, a verified fighter) ... Those are random examples so you can see what I mean. But yeeaaaa, pretty much a @Gregory question

Greg can correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is it

Fight center contributors are gold, blue is verified fighters, moderators are green, silver has been suspended and black is for the owners or originators of tapology I think and red is everyone else.

Here's the breakdown folks:

First of all, the way this is supposed to work is that if you *hover* your mouse over the username, it is supposed to have a floating box pop up with an explanation.  It doesn't pop up for regular users, but it should pop up for any "special" user.  If you are using the site on a mobile device, however, there is no such thing as hovering your mouse, so this doesn't work.

Red: Regular user

Light Gray: Suspended user. A small number of these are permanently banned, but usually it is for a short amount of time.


Green: Forum Moderator (there aren't very many of these, it's a small forum). Moderators can take down posts they think are unacceptable, and they can apply short suspensions (but they can't give out perma-bans).


Gold: FightCenter Editor. They have no special powers in the forum. They cannot moderate posts or suspend users. Only Forum Moderators can do that. Editors make FightCenter database updates and we have about 25 on the team.


Blue: Verified Fighter/Promoter. They also have no special powers in the forum. They have claimed their page on Tapology and are able to make certain edits to their page as a result.  For example a fighter can update their Gym affiliations, birthdate, hometown, etc.

Black: Administrator. There are only 3:  Me, Jeremy, and Skelliher. We have all the powers of the Forum Moderators and FightCenter editors, plus more on top of that, so that we can run the website.

It was never supposed to be secret though!  But I guess the "hover to see more details" was too hidden to be noticeable.

Well like you said, you don't see that when using a cell phone, only when hovering the mouse. I always just used my phone on here
