I am always seeing different types of pictures on twitter of fighters and stuff so I thought I would start a thread where we could put them.

Here's one of the UFC press conference setup, pretty interesting place to do a press conference!

For what it's worth since even fighters are raising a cocaine vs. weed debate it's likely most glossed over this info and how it relates to previous cases since it was a small story a year and a half ago, I only remember it from the WADA site, not even MMA sites.

2/4/12 - UFC 143 - After fight with Carlos Condit, Nick Diaz tests positive for marijuana metabolites in his urine at 25 ng/ml (nanograms per milliliter) while the NSAC used WADA guidelines allowed for a maximum of 15 ng/ml.

5/21/12 - NSAC Ruling - Nick Diaz fined $60,000 and suspended from MMA competition for one year. They rule that 25 ng/ml is beyond the threshold for it able to be from OOC use (generally by WADA defined as about 24 hours).  Diaz has said many times he followed his same routine and stopped exactly 10 days before weigh-ins as he's done for every fight since Gomi.

5/2013 - WADA Vote - Due to marijuana laws in many countries (and a few states) being more lax and to avoid a positive test that is just left over from OOC (Out Of Competition) use, which isn't banned, and because marijuana metabolites stay in your system so long, the World Anti-Doping Agency unanimously raises the maximum allowed threshold by 1000% from 15 ng/ml to 150 ng/ml `as anything under 150 ng/ml could still be from OOC use`.  Everything argued at the NSAC hearing on Diaz by the defense about the metabolites not proving guilt of anything other than OOC use, was barely a year later made true by WADA and therefore the NSAC only a year after his suspension.

So if Diaz's urine from the Condit fight had been tested in the last 18 months he would have been 25 ng/ml with a positive minimum of 150 ng/ml and not even been near the radar. So 3 years ago he was almost double the legal limit. If he'd submitted the same urine test from the summer of 2013 on, he would need to have at least 6 times as much marijuana metabolites in his system to get from his 25 ng/ml to surpass the 150 ng/ml to pop positive today.  I'd want my $60k plus interest back considering it was raised for the exact reason Diaz's defense gave at the hearing that the NSAC shot down as "not a valid defense".  Anyways, tangent, just assumed that old news had went largely unseen and/or not applied in retrospect to previous situations.


In regards to the actual comparison some fighters and forums raised, one test was OOC and one was on a fight night.  Not one is cocaine, one is marijuana.  They've been monitoring caffeine for many many years now for it's diuretic effect, let's not push them!

Maybe Jones left after a day because rehab didn't have the sleeping facilities he requires.

You know... under an MMA cage sweating because authorities may be near.

If I had 2 brothers playing in the AFC championship game, I'd probably leave early too. And we don't know exactly how serious this cocaine issue is. If he's only done a few bumps over his lifetime, I don't see why he has to stay there for like a month.

Possible that the UFC made him go, so they can be "proud of him"
