To combat weight class issues in MMA we've introduced a wider range for fighters to compete at. What do you think?

Honestly, I mean no disrespect but it’s poorly thought out.

Here’s why:  you have 10lb jumps from 115# up to 165# where you then go to 5# jumps until 175 only to then jump back to 10# jumps up until 205 where you then increase to a 20# jump

It’s a lot more difficult for a lighter guy or girl to fight up 10#s than the 165-170-175#rs. The lighter fighters should do the 5-8# jumps then increase to 10# jumps.

I’d be fine with a 225# class though. I’d also be fine with going
155-165-175-185-195/205-225-HW or something based more on bigger weight jumps happening at the higher weights.

I think ten pound weight increments is good enough. Five is too little to matter and then we see boxings example every three pounds or whatever its so confusing so many weight classes that u inevitably don't care.
That's from my spectators perspective if I was fighting then more weight classes is more opportunities for more fighters

add 125 and I agree with you, Hyrm.

I think that the fighters asking for more weight classes are just looking for an easier path to a title.  The more weight classes there are, the less value and prestige to the championships, in my opinion.

If there is a 175 division and 165 there is no need for 170 and 195 and 225 would be horrific mistakes. It would make the already weak divisions Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight even worse. So there is no need for that. And I don't think there is enough world class talent to make 115 either. The only realistic weight classes they can add are 165 and 175 and remove 170. Unlike 195 and 225. There is enough talent in both lightweight and welterweight to fill all 3 divisions of 155,165,and 175.

A division every 10 lbs from 115 to 205 would be good. There really isn't enough talent at 205+ to justify breaking up the HW class. If you add 165 & 175 you should remove 170.
