Fight looked exactly like I thought it would.
Lee doesn't have the cardio or the wrestling chops to pull an Usman or Colby on RDA.

Lee didn't really look any better at 170. Would have expected more from him since it was a big weight cut.

H'es never gonna beat Usman or Colby. Woodley will smoke him. Lawler very well might too. He'll be top 10, that's about it.

@jiujitsu “Yea that performance by Lee still would've beaten some top 15 guys”
I agree with this 💯. Lee is very talented fighter and getting more well rounded and stronger in every area except one very I important one: cardio. He needs to make the adjustments possibly in both trainings and in fight strategy. Some guys just don’t have ave’s 5 round cardio, even after training for it. It may take longer than just one camp.
All love here for mytapology brethren but reading people give RDA the first round was extremely laughable and showed either pure bias or lack of understanding. I haven’t read anyone elsewhere that scored the round for RDA. That’s not to say I looked everywhere or plan on making that silly “uh huh vs nah uh” argument to go nowhere or blast them for their opinions. I understand we won’t change each other’s minds. You see, people everywhere have every right to their wrong opinions.
Lee striking isn’t technically phenomenal by any stretch but he was landing some nice kicks to the body and kept RDA honest with his hands. Even though Lee clearly won the first in my card, it was obvious the veteran RDA wasn’t concerned and was bidding his time, wearing Lee out. It’s my opinion that Lees cardio cost him the biggest fights of his career. It cost him at least 2 fights...maybe three if you throw in Ferguson.
Again, he’s only 26. It will take him a long time to develop the kind of cardio he needs Imo. He might not it even be able to. I feel hen he wed to work know no this far more than his striking actually. He need some to understand this issue and adjust his pace, approach and game planning early in fights , until he develops or if he can’t develop slop his cardio. JMO.

@Swain I watcvhed the fight again this morning. I gave RDA the first round live, then watched upon re-watching it have no idea why I thought he won it at the time. Clear 10-9 Lee.
I still don't rate Lee though. To me, he didn't look better at WW then he did at FW and doesn't seem to have evolved at all. I don't see him ever beating anyone in the top 3 in either division and I don't think he'll ever hold a belt. I think he's always gonna be a top 5 gatekeeper.

Well I’ve never had him as being a champ personally. I’ve always thought of him as a top5 gatekeeper. That’s a too 5 in the world at 2 potential weight classes. That’s a good career. Not everyone will be champ. He’s always honing to be the same fighter but his stand up has improved but essentially he is what he is. He always gonna be a Wrestle/grappler first.
I think people were looking for him to have better cardio without the cut. I hoped so too and took him in very low confidence but I’m not sure he accounted for carrying the extra mass. I’m no trainer or authority on his cardio issues. I can’t say whether or not he need a complete new strength/conditioning regime or minor tweaks or just how to pace himself better within the fight or all of the above. I only see it as his main problem to become better than a upper echelon gatekeeper.

Id like to see him develop better striking and just ring IQ and energy management generally. His entries are top notch but he doesn't shoot at opportune times, and he's either way too low volume or way too inaccurate. He needs to start chaining things together much better and picking his shots. I don't think xtreme couture is helping him TBH. His wrestling isn't the issue, it's his lack of fighting intelligence and predictable hands. I can't remember him ever throwing an uppercut, he rarely ever goes to the body and he's always fishing for the hail mary, and everybody knows it. He's too easy to read--he's just waiting for the moment he catches his opponent so her can get on top, but against the top guys, it tends not to happen because his striking isn't good enough to make it happen, and if they have a strong wrestling base like Iaquinta and RDA ( RDA does have good TDD, everyone looks **** in that department against Usman and Colby) then he gases and either gets decisioned or finished. I reckon AKA is a better fit for for him.

i picked lee to win with very low confidence, i agree with just about everything swain said. first up he needs to fix his cardio im not sure if that means new strength and conditioning regime or better management during the fight, prolly both. but hes also right that some guys will never have 5 round cardio and conor jumps into my mind on that point. i think lee is talented and hes still young at 26, maybe a camp change? get out of his comfort zone?

I think scoring the round towards RDA was similar to the Jacare/Kelvin fight...body language. Even though Lee and , IMO, Jacare did more in a particular round, they wore their exhaustion on their faces. Watching the struggle makes it look like they’re losing or doing less. Even though I felt they won a round, JAcare I thought won the fight (not robbery guys just close one could be scored either way). Looking exhausted makes you look desperate and it’s easy for a judge To overlook the quality work you’ve done and only see that struggle. JUst my guess.
