Last time I can remember a small cage being used was when Dan Henderson fought Tim Boetsch in New Orleans. Almost all of those fights were finishes that night lol.

I like this card top to bottom. Some of the early prelims are pretty interesting to me for a couple of reasons: Albu is back! She disappeared for a minute; Sanders/Barao has to be a loser leaves town match; I feel like Penne should get the win here but she hasn’t won in 4 years. That seems crazy to me, she hasn’t been the most active and the beating JJ gave her could’ve changed anyone’s life, but damn. I’d like to see her win one again.

The UFC is looking to kick down the door with their  ESPN debut. The numbers for the prelims have been good so far, and there should be plenty of action on this card to keep viewers interested.

Been away from the site for far too long. Im so freaking pumped up for Cain to get back in the cage. This is a really interesting matchup for a dude that has been out this long though. I could honestly see it going either way but hopefully we get 100% Cain just mashing the **** out of N'Gannou!!

Predictions: 7 of 12 Winners, 2 Perfect, 415 Points   |   Tied for 1514th

Velasquez vs. N'Gannou
Cain Velasquez, DEC
N'Gannou has show to be a legit **** ass fighter unless you come running forward into his counter. Cain wins by wrestle ******* him into decision, because Francis is built like a ******* freak and because Cain will have ring rust, it should last all 5 rounds with as a boring fight. before it going to the score cards.

Vick vs. Felder
Paul Felder, DEC
Paul Felders superior striking is no match for James Vicks completely solid bone skull. The lack of brain makes this a hard victory for Felder, but he ultimately wins.

Calvillo vs. Casey
Cortney Casey, SUB, R2
In Cortneys last 5 fights it's been a decision, some for and against, but most of her wins are decisions. So if it goes the full 5 rounds, Casey else Calvillo gets a submission. Because Calvillo's only show is to get inside and take her down, I think if successful Calvillo takes it.

Caceres vs. Gracie
Kron Gracie, SUB, R2
Kron Gracie is a premature sub-jaculator, round 2 easy victory over one of the cooler featherweights. Alex has a lot of style, but not enough to avoid being taken down and submitted.

Barberena vs. Luque
Bryan Barberena, TKO, R1
Bryan looks like a hill billy axe murderer and luque looks like the lone ranger in the isolated Alaskan town dead set on taking him down before he claims another victim, hopefully this will be a close, let me bang bro fight. Anyones game, though both good strikes Luque has a better reach and more experience, if they scrap early someone makes a mistake, I want to give it to Bryan for his need to get inside and get Luque k/od early.

Fili vs. Jury
Myles Jury, TKO, R3
Jury is a sort of gatekeeper, with more eperience he will be a threat to everyone except top 10 guys. Andre has a ****** nickname so he lost already, Jury by TKO rnd 3

Predictions: 9 of 12 Winners, 5 Perfect, 615 Points   |   Tied for 173rd

Velasquez vs. N'Gannou
Cain Velasquez, TKO, R1
healthy cain "should" win this. i think his team is smart enough to know to avoid the first 2 minutes of power.

Vick vs. Felder
Paul Felder, TKO, R2
odds seem to have flipped a little here, felder now slight underdog. all of vick's losses are by (t)ko and he just got stiffed by one punch, but i can understand someone being concerned over paul cutting back to 155 and being at a huge size disadvantage.

Calvillo vs. Casey
Cynthia Calvillo, DEC
casey has a bunch of potential, but never seems to "put it all together" and i'm not sure her tenacity can match calvillo's.

Caceres vs. Gracie
Kron Gracie, SUB, R2
definitely agree with the consensus here, even if kron's game is still raw, because it's already working on crafty veterans like kawajiri.

Barberena vs. Luque
Vicente Luque, SUB, R1
luque tags him standing and snatches something up as it goes down, then hopefully gets a ranked opponent.

Fili vs. Jury
Andre Fili, DEC
i'm never comfortable with jury's output. i think fili leads this dance and tries harder.

Rivera vs. Sterling
Aljamain Sterling, DEC
i think jimmie is gonna come in overconfident and get surprised by odd things aljo is gonna do.

Bermudez vs. Lopez
Manny Bermudez, SUB, R1
understandable why this is a popular pick. lopez has looked okay, bermudez has looked good and is finishing guys.

Lee vs. Evans-Smith
Andrea Lee, DEC
lee should have quite a few opportunities to level change and snag some top time.

Holtzman vs. Lentz
Scott Holtzman, DEC
holtzmann should have the wrestling necessary to avoid getting grinded and his striking looks to have come a long way.

Penne vs. Esquibel
Jodie Esquibel, DEC
i can see jodie playing a pest-type game. get in, get out. and her cardio is usually decent.

Sanders vs. Barão
Luke Sanders, DEC
barao can totally win this if he comes in with a grappling mindset, but i think he'll swing it out longer than he should.

Albu vs. Whitmire
Aleksandra Albu, SUB, R2
i guess i feel like whitmire leaves of openings for her opponents and albu is the sort of raw that she'll jump on them.

Albu vs. Whitmire
Emily Whitmire, DEC
A very hard fight to pick. Everybody knows Aleksandra Albu is strong and powerful, and is looking to hurt Emily with constant overhands, but that's all she does. Albu's standing upright in a squared stance, hands below chin level, and lack of head movement is probably going to undo her pressuring game. Emily certainly does have a fatal tendency to drop her non-striking hand when she commits to striking and keep her head high, which is a significant opening for an overhand. But because Emily at least has her height as her defence, and Aleksandra has a big opening(I mean that Albu herself leaves a lot of big openings which Emily could exploit) both when stationary and aggressive, I would have to assume Emily wins via an outfighting game.

I was not making a 'perfect' argument for taking Albu.

I see where the confusion comes from though. I did say that Aleksandra has a "big opening", which probably had you and others thinking that I was saying she will find a big opening on Whitmire to land her power overhands. But that's not what I meant.

What I meant to say is that Albu herself has a huge gap in her armor that makes her susceptible to getting hit, whether she is standing still or rushing in to land overhands.

Yeah I caught that. I meant u said albu overhand rights are her main weapon and then u said whitmire stands up straight chin up droping her hand. Even her height which Is not a defense against over hands as we seen In vick vs gaethje. means whitmire is susceptible to an overhand taking her head off.
I had whitmire. Now I got albu. Thanx bud.

Ah, I see your point.

But I believe Gaethje shouldn't be compared to Albu in this context, because Gaethje actually has good cage-cutting footwork and was really only able to land that overhand after backing James up towards the fence, where James would no longer have any space to move backwards.

Albu doesn't cut the cage at all, so I don't think she will find that overhand as early as Gaethje did.

But we both can agree that Albu is a powerful puncher and probably requires one or few overhands landed to finish the fight. So, I do understand your thinking.

I just think it's more likely that Whitmire will land more punches from a distance than it is for Albu to land few fight finishing overhands.

Albu will win because she doesn't mind taking a few to dish a few out and she straight up hits harder. That, and and she's just a straight up big powerful ***** with very slick throws and a good top control game. Moddaferi rag dolled Whitmire and my guess is that Albu is better in just about every department, including footwork.

You're right about albu spamming the overhand though, she definitely does. She's got that pretty buck standard for WMMA scooty chute to box loopy crap overhand arm punch thing happening like 90% of WMMA fighters. I wouldn't be surprised if she TKO'ed whitmire however, she does have nasty elbows from mount.
