Indeed, but if they can get a few wins out of him with that undefeated record, that may be enough to be worth the investment.

I can't imagine this is being imposed on DJ, the UFC isn't forcing him to go to One FC, they're releasing him from his contract.  Matt Hume is with One FC, and I guess that's where DJ wants to be as well.  It's a foolish decision to let him go, though, he could be a huge boon to the One FC promotion, where the lower weight classes are taken more seriously.  

Ben Askren has very little value to the UFC in return.  Askren got himself out of his Bellator contract in order to be in the UFC, and they decided they didn't want him.  Now that he's 33 and retired, now they want him?  It doesn't make sense to me.  Johnson is one of the best fighters in the world, period.  Maybe the best.  Why would you give him to your competition for nothing?

What I don't understand about this is the business side of things. Maybe Victor Cui has so much money that it hardly matters whether the whole kit and kaboodle runs at a net loss-- it's likely his dividend draw alone can cover it. Gotta spend it on something I suppose.

I cannot see, excuse me, how this promotion could possibly match or superate what the UFC are paying him currently and come out of it all in the black. Maybe they know something we don't; it's possible that the Asian market has a bigger appetite for the little guys.
