Miller, 37, is being accused of entering a woman’s house and destroying some of her property Friday, including smashing a marble table, punching holes in and removing the doors to the home and derailing the garage door, per Orange County District Attorney spokesperson Michelle Van Der Linden.
The La Habra Police Department arrested Miller at the scene, Van Der Linden said. Vandalism in California rises to a felony when the damage surpasses $400.
The charge is made more significant for Miller, because he is currently on probation after pleading guilty to corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant in November 2017. Miller cut a plea deal and was given three years of probation and a suspended four-year state prison sentence with credit for 62 days served.
Miller pleaded guilty to another felony vandalism charge, as well as assault with a weapon on a peace officer, resisting arrest, false imprisonment and battery in April 2017. Those latter charges (four felonies) stem from a 2015 incident. His probation was revoked and reactivated in January 2018. The end date, before this current charge, was set to be June 13, 2020.
”Jason is a great guy and I love him like a brother,” Miller’s lawyer Cameron Talley told City News Service on Tuesday. “It is incredibly sad to see these continued police contacts, but I have faith he can straighten out his life.”
