But according to the article he did NOT say he thought there was nobody in it:
Wilder also refuted reports that he didn’t realise there was a person inside the costume.
“Anything headlining I didn’t know a human being was in there is just straight click-baiting,” said Wilder on Instagram.

They should have known something like this would happen. Deontay Wilder has an overhand right like a sour Mule's back leg.... nowhere near enough padding to absorb that kind of power. I guess Deontay thought there was lol. You can tell from the footage he knows it's bad as soon as it lands...he has that look like 'awwwwwwww ****'.
