Nicco went in to semi-renal failure yesterday, and has not been sanctioned to compete. Looks like Dana is going to declare schevchenko default champ.

From that interview with Dana, this decision seems to be all about Shevchenko. They're stripping Nicco of her belt because Shevchenko is anxious to fight for it.

I get it, Nicco won the belt because of TUF and she doesn't have the best of records. However she's not the interim champ like Tony and Cody were, she was the full fledged champion (according to the UFC).

I mean by this president shouldn't the UFC have stripped Max Holloway of his belt too. The fans would've rioted. Holloway and Shevchenko both seem to have a passionate fanbases that are driving these decisions.

Once again the UFC are being hypocritical.

Max is different because he is a PROVEN GREAT champion.
Nico is not. She is a paper champ. She didnt earn it against a number one contender.
And please lets not pretend the happy warrior is a number 1 contender cause she is not.
How much time can u give a paper champ to fight. Not more then a year and shes already had that.

Great call. About time dana white stoped disapointing me.

And they should make another fight now for tomorrow.
I cant imagine anyone in the top ten could say no to a chance for the title.
I bet roxy would fight her on one day nottice.
UFC?? Make it happen.

Yeah, I agree Free. Valentina kept her end of the bargain, always has, and the bout was a foregone conclusion anyway. Fair thing to do would be to wrap some gold around her waist and find someone for her to defend against a couple of months down the track. Hope she gets show money at least, too.

Yeah i just seen the vid she doesnt get the title. Dana wants a make another fight for tha now vacant belt.
Poor valentina how many is that now three title shots slipped through her grasp. Was amanda champion in the first fight? 2 or 3 times now. Bullet is getting older. Has so many fights through all the sports combat she has done. She deserves to b champ the secound she joined the division she should have been default champ like they did with ronda.

If there was no way that TUF could've produced a legitimate champion, the UFC should have just made the winner the #1 contender to fight Shevchenko.

I try to be a fan of the UFC, but one thing I insist on is that they play and follow by their own rules that they themselves have created.

In my mind there is no such thing as a paper champion. If the UFC books the champion bout, the winner should be the champ and treated as one regardless of who the challenger is waiting in the wings.

Instead of ruining Nicco with the fans forever, shouldn't the UFC just booked Shevcheko in an interim belt fight then have the winner fight Nicco once she's cleared to fight again?

It's weird to me when fans think that professional fighters, who train everyday, and have a history of fighting in cage, in front of thousands are somehow scared.

She didn't duck signing, she had medical reasons for not fighting prior. Plus believing that someone would give themselves kidney issues in some kind of long con that doesn't benefit her at all, is also preposterous. It's not like she's getting paid for the fight anymore or getting a check just by being champ.

Say what you want about TUF (I don't watch it anymore), it takes some kind of mental fortitude to make it though the tournament. Shevcheko doesn't know anything about Nicco, she's just talking ****. Believing a fighters trash talk is like believing an email you get from a Nigerian prince.

Montano is a lot better than her record suggests, as well.  Anyone who watched her season knows she's game, she beat some good fighters in the tournament.  I don't think she would have beaten Shevchenko, but I don't think she's been avoiding her either.  I think she's just a victim of some bad luck, it happens.  People get injured or miss weight all the time.

@Unbeknowst she does NOT have a history of fighting in front of ufc crowds on ppv no less.
She is clearly scared. Medical reasons once ok. But three times now forget it.
As for her **** record against **** opponents what can we say about that.
Happy warrior is the best shes fought. No where near shevchenkos level.
Its the champs job to defend the title shes had long enough.
GOOD RIDANCE.

@freemoneyforall: She has a history of fighting in front of a UFC crowd. How do you think she won the title? You're not in her head, how is she clearly scared?

The UFC doctors verified her medical issue, and they're the ones that pulled her from the card. It was the UFC's decision. Shevcheko also said Nunes was scared to fight her again after Nunes was pulled from they're rematch by UFC doctors at UFC 213. Do you also believe Nunes was scared of Shevcheko too, at that time?

First she never faught on a ppv main card. Big difference. Secound her and her team called the doctors. Finally we werent talking about nunez. We talkin bout nico no fighting spirit montano. Only real event she faught at was the tuf finals. And those aren't even as good as ufc on fox. She is a chicken****. Period. And every fighter who doesnt make weight should be fired. A so called champion that doesn't make weight should b shot.

You're hung on the point that she hasn't fought on a PPV, which for some reason makes her chicken **** in your mind. The point is, she fights in front of crowds but yet to you she's scared and doesn't have any fighting spirit.

Nunes was pulled for almost the same reason; and against the same opponent, so it is relevant. Shevchenko said the reason Nunes was pulled was because she was scared of her. Did you believe Shevchenko at that time?
