He says that he absolutely will retire in 2019. Will he fight twice in two separate divisions before then? Seems unlikely. He's sold on taking the fight with Lesnar, who won't be cleared until January. That leaves a small window for him to take a fight at LHW.

What do we all think about that? Should he take the winner of Gustavson vs Oezdemir? I think a lot of people would tune in for a Gus VS DC rematch, but let's be real; the No time vs DC wasn't remotely competitive and I doubt many people expect it to go differently.

If you're DC, do you give Gustavson, who is a tough-as hell fight that may result in an injury that forces you out of the Lesnar fight indefinitely ( and isn't worth a shred of the Lesnar purse) and possibly throws a spanner in the works for your retirement plan?

Or do You just say 'sorry Gus. No Cigar' and kick back until January next year, beat the breaks of Lesnar, and retire undefeated Two-weight champ?

He cherry picks fights, like Brock and I’ve heard Shogun on his radar then retires and calls himself the best of all time.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we never see him again. Chances are he'll get hurt training for his next fight and just retire the two division champ.

If the Brock fight falls through (USADA) and Jon Jones gets a prolonged suspension (USADA), I could see DC just calling it a day and not fighting again.

I can't imagine DC being motivated to cut to 205 again. But it's also just as likely that both Gus and Shogun lose their next fights, leaving absolutely no one at LHW to fight (except perhaps Romero).

I actually think DC is motivated to fight at 205. He been acting like that the plan to take one at 205 then the last one at HW.  I think he will come to his senses and realize there just not enough time. I think his coaches will talk him into just fighting at HW.  However DC def wants to fight at 205 and the reason is, he all about his legacy. He wants to be the first guy to actually defend both belts.  You can tell that his goal, though given his time restraints and his age, it seems like it unrealistic.

If I'm DC I fight Brock when he's eligible and then I fight Jones in my last fight but at HW, not LHW. Those are the two biggest money fights for him at this point. And really that's what it's all about. If there was any other fight I'd do it would be vs Gus.

I don't think there is a chance dc fights at LHW again. I know what he has said in the past about defending one more time, but he just got done saying he will only take big fights from here on out. If for some reason Lesnar is unavailable (Usada) and Jones is out (Usada again), then I think the only big fight left is a rematch with Stipe. Not that I'm clamoring for that. I watched the fight, & I don't think Stipe will have an answer for dc's speed. So I could realistically see him doing Lesnar and then maybe a rematch with Stipe, but I doubt he fights at 205 again. Why would he? He's proven himself to be the best HW on the roster and I have felt that he has been the best hw for a long time. I remember thinking before cain fought jds for the 3rd time that the only hw that could beat a healthy cain was dc.

I think I personally would rather see Yoel vs Gus for the strap or some form of it in the meantime. To me that fight would be bananas.

If Brock stays clean he will be clear to fight in January and DC broke his hand so it is likely he will be out almost that long anyway.

It would be incredible if he defended both titles, but I wouldn't bet on it.

He only has one fight left and its the Lesnar fight probably Super Bowl weekend. If he takes the Gus fight his money fight is gone since he will most likely get in another war like their first fight and won't fight before March there is no way.

I agree with @franklin %100. He wants to b rememberd as the goat.
He wants to b the first to defend both titles for sure.
I think he will fight the winner of gustavsons next fight.
Then brock.
Then maybe a rematch with jones witch make his last three biggest fights and paydays
Maybe a rematch with stipe is in their too. But probably not.
Also think if he losses any of those by brutal ko. Then he'll maybe call it quits early.
Think he wants the legacy and that will cement him as the greatest of all time.

I'm wondering if DC were to lose the lhw title before he defends the HW strap (Gus is a real threat), does the Lesnar fight lose any of it's shine? Not so much with fight fans, but more of the WWF crowd and the fans who will watch because they know who Brock is.

I very much doubt he takes the fight with Gus, who I assume will beat Oezdemir barring another Rumble-style landing of the kitchen sink.

Fish, would you rather see volkon vs Gus or Yoel vs Gus? Me personally, I would rather see the latter. I know where Volkon is in relation to the elite at lhw. DC made short work of him and he wasn't in that fight at all. With Yoel at 205, who knows. But I do know this, Gus is one part of the elite at lhw in the UFC.

And this may not be a popular opinion, but without DC, Rumble, or Jones at 205 Bellator has a better top 10. I don't think the elite at 205 in Bellator stack up against the elite at 205 in the UFC, but without Gus, DC, Rumble, or Jon, the ufc's lhw division is weak.

Yoel vs DC would be epic. Two Olympic caliber wrestlers with Ko power. My brain hurts trying to figure out how that fight would go. I was calling for Gus vs Yoel, but this fight please. Anyone here know Dana White personally? Call him and let him know Mike from Tapology wants this fight.

I personally don't think Yoel should get the fight at all. Not sure why we would reward someone who missed weight twice for champanionship fights, just lost a fight and the champ of his last division who not known for ever saying anything, starts throwing crazy shade at Yoel about possible PED use.  To me it just does not seem like someone who warrants a title shot and I am really not interested in it unless Yoel gets some wins at LHW.
