Good for Mike Perry training abroad. I'm not sure if Jackson Wink was the right choice. As long as he gets the win, that's all that matters, but he'll probably lose some potential post-fight bonuses training there.

Jackson Wink will ruin Perry the same way they ruined Holm.

It's the wrong camp for him. AKA would have been a better fit.

Wait... They ruined Holm? They made Holm! She's been training with them since day one. She got exposed by better strikers, don't get me wrong, but we can't also act like Jackson-Wink isn't responsable for all the success she has had.

Hope this will be a step in the right direction for Mike, but I do agree in that it may not be the right camp for a fighter like him. We shall see though.

Yes, they ruined holm. She was never a finisher during her tenure as a boxing champ but jackson wink has completely obliterated her boxing acumen, likely because nobody there knows how to utilize it in an mma setting, and turned her into a predictable kickboxing telegraph machine who loses decisions and has never finished anyone with hand strikes. She could have been so much more.

There is not one high profile boxing based fighter to emerge from Jackson wink. Even Jones has garbage boxing attack and defense.

Perry, who is clearly built for boxing-based MMA is absolutely wasted at jackson wink. He would be better off at TAM because at least there they'd develop his strengths rather than try and turn him into something he will never be great at, and that's a thai-based pointfighter who will wait for an opening that doesn't come and if it does won't be able to capitalize on it and will get outpointed.

Perry is puncher. When he fights his natural fight and lets his hands go he wins by KO. If he tries to do enough to win and fights too cautiously he loses as evidenced by his last fight.

He needs to go first,  lead the dance, and punch hard to put the fear of god in his opponent.Thats what he does best and he will never do anything better. He needs a camp that will develop that ( and someone should teach him to jab) not utterly remove it and reinvent the wheel. Get him sparring with some ranked WW pro boxers. Teach how to throw backstep counters and uppercuts on rhe inside.Drill and drill and drill. Some energy management strategies wouldn't go astray either.

He could train with the world's best boxers all he wants, but he competes in MMA. The basic principles of hit, don't be hit, move, counter are the same but the execution is entirely different.
