I have heard rumors that with the death of Shawn Tompkins, Sam Stout will retire? Can someone confirm or deny this? Hes 27 still has quite a bit left in him and I really enjoy watching him fight. I would hate to see him retire.

That would be very sad. I can't begin to imagine what it would be like to fight without your corner and mentor. Training would be even harder. I think the death of Jake Shields' father has had a large effect on Shields' last mma performance aswell.

I bet even if Stout did say that, it was only because of the grief.  No way is he really done for good.  I doubt Tompkins would have wanted him to quit now.

I could see it happening...Every time the guy steps into the gym he's gonna think of Shawn Tompkins...He's probably not to a point yet where he can accept that his best friend is gone...Hopefully having Hominick and Horodecki close will help him get back to what The Coach would in all reality want him to do and continue his career

Yeah, maybe he'll take some time to grieve, but the Coach would not want him to quit right now.  I think he'll be back.

I haven't heard this yet... do you have a source or anything?  I'd be curious to read about it.

@torch i agree man, i wanted a lot more fights for stout especially after he finally got his knock out even tho it was against one of my favs!  Im from the same town probably saw him around when we were young, my sister is close to a couple of his friends and tomkins wife, i cant not cheer for him.  I hope he makes the choice that allows him to deal with his grief and find a way to make himself happy.

I would also hate this, It would suck bad man. Stout is a great fighter and coming off a big knockout win, It would suck to go out now.
