Hansruedi Giger. Swiss Surrealist.
Your avatar reminds me of his Art. He created the monster from the Alien series among other things. He was a proper Artist, equal parts genius and madness.

I'm a big fan. He was criticized a lot for being a mysogynist but I think he was misunderstood, and he didn't really like talking about his work, which compounded the problem. His wife committed suicide early on, and I think a lot of it is just him painting his grief in his own way.
Probably my favorite Artist is an American guy called Rob Evans who is a magic realist painter. Not realism, not surrealism. Kind of a tightrope walk between both. Nothing happening in the images is impossible--in fact what's happening should be mundane, but something about them is...strange, off. He's criminally underrated. It's an extremely hard thing to get right.
