UFC was having a tough time filling the main event slot for Belem. Changing of the guard fight?

Is Anders the new "Brazilian Killer" or what? Lol, all three of his UFC fights have been against brazilians.
I'm on the fence about whether he'll get a finish or not, although I guess he could score a KO in the later rounds.

Did you watch the fight? Took him quite awhile to get his groove, arguably lost the 1st.

Yes I even picked Machida last time lol and felt very stupid for it LOL but doing it again... lol wondering what you guys have to say about this
was my pick but I'm sure some of you will find some good reasons why it might be wrong and really that is awesome!!! Just figured Machida has had some great fights and figured he could get past Eryk Anders at UFC Fight Night 126.
Wow says 73 percent Anders so happy to be in Tapology it really does rule!

I like what I saw in Anders last fight but I'm not convinced it's up to Machida's level. Anders commits heavy on his striking and his punches seem kinda slow, should open him up for Machida to counterstrike or land some nice straight punches. I can see "Ya Boii" getting picked apart on the feet and eating a head kick in round 2 or 3.

Expect a replay of Bisping vs Kelvin. Machida is returning way too soon after getting KTFO. Even he is aware of how soon this is which is why he didn't want to do it. They had to throw Anderson Silva money at him to sign to fight.

I have never once bet against Lyoto, and it's cost me more often than not lately but you gotta support your favourites.

I don't like picking against Machida either. He's one of my all time favorite fighters and has provided me with some of the best highlight reel finishes ever. But I do think he drops this one. Anders is a big, young, strong dude with a fresh chin and heavy hands. He doesn't have great hand speed but he does picks his moments well once he's timed his enemy, and has very, very good straights that come from waaaaay out. Machida's reflexes have declined. Anders also does something that Lyoto has always struggled with, and that's lace people with nasty slashing elbows off the clinch break...he's very strong here. Really perez survived by virtue of having an iron jaw in the anders fight. Machida is better defensively than Perez but I have to think something gets through eventually and when it does it will end Lyoto's night. I will change my prediction to Anders by KO in the second, because he's a slow starter.
But I hope I'm wrong. WAR Machida always.

Perez is a pretty weird fighter stylistically though Mikey...I think he's the only guy on the roster whose background is kung fu.I doubt Anders would have faced anybody similar which might explain his inability to land anything meaningful in the opening half of the first but after this he figured out the puzzle and just dominated.

Nobody wants Machida to win this more than I do, but he's had a very noticeable decline after the beatings he's taken in recent years and getting back in there just 8 weeks after having his lights shut out is not a good idea. Anders is a super aggressive, hard hitting guy and those are the guys that have been able to get to Machida on the feet in the past. Anders had surprising cardio in his last fight considering how high paced it was. He basically broke Perez half way through and landed shots that would knock out most guys in the division. I see Anders getting it done in first 10 minutes. Shame this has to happen in the first card in his home town.

Dunno what to think. Machida is shot and coming into this fight pretty quickly after the bad Brunson loss but Anders is still pretty new and I wasn't impressed with his fight with Perez. If Machida fights smart he could take it but if he lets Anders get many shots in he'll be out again.

Too soon for Machida. It sucks, man. Always been a fan of the dude. But Anders might have a bit too much power for him here. When he fought Brunson he didn't look awful if you really watched it back. He looked relatively close to 'classic' Machida prior to the stoppage. I know that doesn't mean a ton considering the result, but you never know. This could be too much too soon for Anders. Guess we'll see.
