If it has to happen I'll be rooting for Nate though.

If anything it looks like they're trying to set up the path of least resistance for McGregor to get a third belt, if Nate did manage to win.
That being said I would think that Woodley would maul Nate.

Nate has a very real chance of beating Woodley, and I would favor him to. Crazy Cardio, rangey, solid boxing and slick jujitsu. It's a bad style matchup for Tyrone and I could see Nate doing to him something similar to what Rory Mac did.
I think Mcgregor would probably beat Nate in a trilogy fight, you're probably on to something here.

Nate's lack of footwork, shaky defense, inability to check kicks and dodgy takedown defense would doom him imo. His only hope is for Tyron to gas out, which he hasn't done in a while thanks to his more conservative approach.
I really don't think Nate would be able to beat him.

I think Nate's boxing defense is good, but Tyrone may kick his lead leg off the way he did to Condit. RDA gave everybody the blueprint to beat Nate. I like Nate but he hasn't ever really evolved and is pretty much the same fighter he has always been. If he can weather the leg kick, or avoid them, I think he takes it though by decision. I can see him outlanding tyrone enough to win a decision, Woodley isn't a volume striker and doesn't like being pressured, which is why he was able to beat WB who simply refused to commit to anything.

All fair points, but I must state that Tyrons leg kicks where not the cause of Condit injury. COndit blew his ACL from the take down prior to the kick. Tryone has good leg kicks, but not that good. If Nate can keep pushing forward and can take the shots, he can win it, but not sure I like his chances.

222nd Place
I actually think Woodley would do to Nate what Rory MacDonald did to Diaz, ragdoll him, throw him around rough him up. Size matters and Diaz is no welterweight.
If it happens it's ********, there is no basis for Diaz to get a title shot.

They should make this for the interim-interim 185 strap and set Conor vs. Nick for the interim 170 strap.

I see the architecture here:
Woodley© vs. Diaz = Diaz© vs. McGregor III = McGregor© vs. GSP = Printing your own money

Problem with that is Diaz' track record against strong wrestlers (and Woodley will be the strongest wrestler he's ever faced).
Woodley won't strike with him and wait for Diaz to out-cardio him. He's too fast, too explosive, too strong for Nate. He'll put him against the cage, pick him up and slam him down. And even if he does strike with him, I think a stationary target like Nate would be perfect for Woodley's explosive style of striking, as limited as it is. Woodley's going to strike with him for a bit to fish for the KO and take him down at some point of every round (I don't see there being more than 3).
And before everyone starts pointing out his BJJ, show me the last guy he submitted from the bottom. This ain't 2012 and Woodley ain't no Jim Miller. He's never been submitted before, has a HEAVY top game and will just over-power Nate on the mat.
Sadly, if this fight happens, Nate's going to be reminded why Rory tossed him back to 155 in the first place.

Heavy front leg kicks seems the most direct route to beat a Cesar Gracie fighter. Stephens basically disabled Gil a couple of minutes into their fight by blasting that heavy front leg. Although I do agree if Nate can avoid the kicks he'd have a solid chance. Solid chin, slick boxing and no problem with being on his back.

Looks like Nate declined, so I guess it ain't happening.
I'm actually glad about that, since it made no sense. That being said, 219 is still with no main event.
