Prediction: correct Bader   correct Decision

Bader makes his Bellator debut with a title shot rematch after all, after King Mo withdraws due to injury. Maybe the first time a defending champ has actually been the replacement opponent?

I think it speaks volumes about Davis that, even though he's the current champ, he was the backup plan for Bellator's biggest show ever. I wonder if this fight is still on the prelims.

I don't think he was the backup plan.

They wanted to ease Bader in, build him vs. Davis up a bit, solidify Bader's name with the brand with a big fight against one of their more known stars, so that they could use Davis vs. Bader to headline their next big card. They don't like marketing "UFC fighter <fighter name>", especially in their title shots which is why they prefer to make them an official "Bellator fighter" with Bellator highlights before they start marketing them for a title shot. I think part of it has to do with how Benson kind of lost all of his thunder before he actually had real ties to the Bellator brand.

But when Mo pulled out and this being a big-time PPV, so they can't afford to lose the bigger names, they figured that a) a title fight would prevent them from losing grounds and b) who else could they give Bader on a card like this without it losing luster?

They're really going big with this card. I like it. 5 rounds could favor Davis here.

@yossgold:
The King Mo/Bader fight was the main prelim fight. The fact that it was cancelled and this fight took it place has nothing to do with maintaining a stacked PPV lineup. This fight could easily headline the following Bellator event.

Funny that it is a prelim. Just shows that the beltholders have little drawing power.

In Bellator the prelims take place after the main event.

I honestly don't have a clue who wins this. Davis looked awful against king mo otherwise I probably would have went with him so I will probably go with bader. They may not have any drawing power but the fact that number 5 and 6 in the world are fighting against each other at bellator shows a swing in things. It's bad that a bellator prelim has 2 higher ranked opponents fighting each other than any card the UFC have done this month other than Aldo vs Holloway. They clearly can't afford to keep losing top level fighters regardless of drawing power. Main events sell ppvs but nobody wants to watch a whole PPV for one fight with the rest of the card full of mid tier fighters unless it's a huge name selling the card. Having top tier fighters matters. Oezdemir went 1-1 in bellator and now he's at #4 in the UFC. Bellator are doing all the right things this year but they really need to sort the order of their cards out and always have their prelims on live tv

Even though, I think Davis won the first one. I think Bader might edge Davis this time around. However, I think jitters for debutting in a new promotion and fighting for a title right away may be a factor to consider with Bader.

I think Bader has improved considerably in recent times, I am not convinced Davis has for many years

I think Bader has gotten so much better since they last fought. I don't think the same can be said for Davis.

Part of me really thinks we see a Bader finish here. I hope we do, anyway. But for now, I'll play it safe and say Bader wins a 25-minute striking match.
