What Phil needs is just a couple of months of only training and working on his skills and not preparing for another fight.

I really like Phil, but he's got to work on his standup before I see him as a legitimate contender.

@xbassist- Tito would be a great step for Davis. He's not known for great standup, but his wrestling would probably negate Phil's. This would force Phil to develop a more well rounded game.

Tito would dominate Davis. Tito would stuff his takedown and then pick him apart on the feet. Let's see the 2 young prospects. Davis vs Gustaffson go at it.

Tito would tire after one round and Davis would control it from then on.

Why would I want to see Davis beat Gustaffson again?

@torch what makes you think Tito would tire? I've never seen him gas out. The fight with Gustaffson would be close. Davis is not anywhere near as good as some people think he is.

Davis already choked out Gustaffson at UFC 112.

What makes you think Tito would pick apart Davis on the feet? Phil handled himself fine against Nog is arguably a better boxer than Tito. Why does Davis have to prove himself by beating Gustaffson a 2nd time?

Not only did Phil Davis beat Gustafson, but Gustafson went to Phil Davis after the fight to go train with him and have him help with his wrestling... if i recall correctly.

Davis has a long way to go. I think Rashad would have finished him had that fight taken place.

I agree with most here... Davis has potential, but his stand up isn't ready for the elite of the division.

I don't think Nogueira is "arguably" a better striker than Tito. I think that's like...really obvious. Just wanted to say that.

Tito vs Phil Davis is a solid fight...Davis fought a fringe top 10 guy last in Lil Nog and Tito would be a similar level for him...Be interesting to see Tito stuffing takedown after takedown like Lil Nog did before gassing....Tito won't gas...Has anyone ever seen a fight where cardio was an issue for "The Huntington Beach Badboy"?

And I agree with @Mino...Lil Nog is a better striker then Tito hands down...and I like Tito a lot more then Lil Nog

Yeah.. it really isn't even close.  Lil Nog IS the better striker.  Tito was gassing in his fight with Forrest (Blamed it on his multitude of injuries).

I don't think Nogueira gassed. I think Davis properly adjusted his takedowns and started getting them. On the ground he did some of the worst lay n pray I've ever seen in the sport. Not that I blame him, Nogueira is a killer on the ground, but he landed maybe one punch from on top and didn't make any attempt to pass.

Davis is a good prospect but that is all he is at the moment.. Rashad would of smashed him just as badly he did Tito.

davis just doesnt do it for me yet.. hes had a bunch of decent fights as well as some boring ones as well.. i see him being around top 15 at the highest.. but he wouldnt stand a chance against anyone like shogun, machida, jones, rampage, rashad... give him someone like tito.. helps with the tito hype-train as well if he wins.. beats an up an coming undefeated prospect.. and if not.. bye bye tito.. win win
