If there was a blemish on UFC 208, it was that Ronaldo Souza went ahead and performed to standard, finishing Tim Boetsch in the first round of his fight with a Kimura. Look, I like Jacare but he must not have gotten the memo. Brooklyn was awash in scorecards, to the point that the scorecards themselves became the grand adventure. The 10-8s were beginning to show up in force, but in loose directions. Dustin Poirier, who took out Jim Miller fairly handily in the lone truly entertaining bout, fought to a 28-28 draw on one judge’s scorecard. That would have seemed astonishing had Phillipe Nover not lost a fight in which he had one judge score in his favor, 30-27.

It already was historic with its percentage of decisions.

Poirier and Miller

28-28 was a legit score for that match up. First two rounds were reasonably close margin but Dustin definitely won them. Round 3 was a much larger margin round for Miller with those devastating  leg kicks and real kimura threat. He had big damage in that round that affected Dustin for a long duration of that round.

I don't think so. Miller did some heavy damage with the leg kicks but Poirier had successful takedowns and the number of strikes landed was fairly even. Plus Poirier had Miller hurt badly in round 2 so if you gave Miller round 3 10-8 I feel like Poirier would have won round 2 10-8 as well.

I don't remember the fight exactly, but I remember thinking at the time that the judge that had it 28-28 (cause like most I was a little surprised with the weird score)probably had it rounds 1 & 3 for Miller and 10-8 round 2 for Dustin,or something like that.Who knows how these guys score stuff, maybe the scorecards are online somewhere,or will be eventually.

With the new rules were obviously going to see more draws.I know it's kind of all the same, aka nothing will fix ****** judging, but I thought it would have been easier for the judges in this transition to simply do half point rounds like kickboxing has done in the past.If a fighter just edges the round it's 10-9.5 if they clearly win the round it's 10-9,if they dominate the round (10-8 how it was before) then 10-8.5,if they absolutely destroy the guy 10-8.I just thought it would be a more in depth scoring system with an easier transition for the judges. That's just how I would have liked to see it.

I think round 3 was a 10-9 because Porier was not in real danger.  He would have been though had Miller landed a few more kicks.  He could have had the stoppage in the 3rd had he just had a few more.
