Cris Cyborg failed a drug test last December, which was for Spironolactone as her camp disclosed. According to the long time dominant featherweight, the drug was prescribed to treat issues stemming from recent tough weight cuts she had. She also noted that she was “calm” because there’s “nothing bad” and USADA has been speaking to her doctor about it.
Dana White has since given an update on her case, saying things are indeed looking up for Cyborg.
“We (created the 145-pound division) because Cyborg was freaking out and didn’t want to make 135 or 140. So we pulled the trigger. Then the stuff goes down with her and USADA, which is looking really good now by the way,” White said during an appearance on ESPN’s 5ive Rounds podcast (transcribed by MMA Weekly).
