Wow...so neither guy gets the next title shot like everyone thought.

Either they make Stipe wait and give the shot to the winner of this fight...

Or they give Stipe his own chance of redemption against JDS (as much as I don't think JDS has earned a title shot off of one win over Rothwell, JDS was the last man to beat the champ).

This fight is happening because Stipe wants a bit of time off, and he earned it. 3 fights, 3 KO's vs. Arlovski, Werdum, Overeem. 3 post-fight bonuses. A title win. A title defense.

@Tacos Oh, nice. Didn't hear about Stipe wanting the time off. In that case, this was the match to make. I guess it's decided he'll fight the winner then. Makes perfect sense. :)

Yeah he said 3 fights in 9 months was a lot and wants to fight next year,so assuming the winner of this (if they stay healthy) gets the title shot.Who knows with the UFC.Brock Lesnar could sneak in and get the title shot for all I know :D

I think this fight will go very differently than the first one.

Werdum seems to have spent his afterburners during his title run and since then hasn't looked the same. I don't think he is spending as much time preparing as he used to. Cain will maul him, and make him think about retiring.

I call it love handle Werdum. When he has love handles at weigh ins he'll put on a mediocre performance,if he doesn't have (big'ish) love handles he'll look great.Ok ok,maybe it's not 100% lol,but I started calling him that like 10 years ago and I look every fight and oddly it pretty much always holds true.In all honesty though,I do think he's one of those fighters that needs to be in tip top shape to perform at his peak.Like look at how slow and ****** he looked vs Noguira despite getting the W.

VS Cain

VS Stipe

i can get behind love handel werdum as a thing.
as he was coming out to face browne i thought he looked a bit doughy- like he hadnt been on the cardio, which a broken foot in camp would explain. and the tail end of that fight wasnt his best showing

It's hard to pick against Cain, especially at Sea-level, yes that might not be a fair handicap to give him but he looked much worse in Mexico. Their first fight wasn't the blowout some think it was.

I dunno who to pick here. Cain beat up Browne more efficiently but everyone in the top 10 beats up Browne now. It could be a total crapshoot depending on who comes into the fight healthy and motivated. Assuming of course that it doesn't get cancelled.

Prediction: Velasquez  |  KO/TKO  |  Round 2

Going to pick Sea Level Cain against Post-USADA 39 Year Old Love Handles Werdum.

I think Werdum is on a decline, he's just getting too old for this. I think Cain will learn from their last fight and shore up his weaknesses, as well. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong at all, though.

The gas tank sure hurt Cain but going to the ground is not really a good idea so he needs a KO here.

I think CV will win this rematch and if Miocic van get past ÇV I'd say he could be the best heavyweight of all time
would like too see JDS fight Miocic but JDS has become a Gatekeeper for the top 5

There's no gatekeeper at heavyweight. All the guys can pretty much knock the **** out of each other, which is why there are never any longstanding champs. I think Stipe could make a good enough run though, if he can get past Cain, if Cain doesn't lose to Werdum.

At HW

Nobody is beating Fedors streak at HW. But even after the struve loss i said Miocic would be the one to beat Cain. But out of these 2 guys i'd say Werdum has the best chance of beating Miocic

Miocic would have to fight until he is 43 to beat Fedor's streak.

It's not about fedor and his streak I do not think a prime fedor would beat miocic or CV .
fedor already lost too big foot and werdum .
in my opinion fedor was the best of his era un matched by anyone but today's top contenders would be too big and over power him .
I would like too see fedor fight lightheavys in the UFC

Great fight I think fedor could have outside the UFC today is Shane Carwin
