McBride replaces Taisumov on short notice.

Lentz dodged a bullet.

Taisumov is going to end up being like 20-0 in the UFC against middling competition because every time they try to give him a step up he gets injured.

Hard to be 20-0 when you lost your first fight.

Yeah, forgot he lost one. It was his second UFC fight though.

Because Nick Lentz is a dangerous fighter but doesn't have a name worth the risk of facing him on short notice. For most established or known fighters fighting him on a full training camp has little upside. It's a W in the win column and not much else with a good chance you may receive an L courtesy of Nick Lentz. So no there aren't a lot of people willing to take a Lentz fight on just two weeks notice yet Nick still has an opponent who is making 10k/10k btw. He may not have a name and Maybe Nick will run through him or maybe he will do what that unknown did against Ferguson and put up a great fight. This is just another example of why the job is so hard and proof that he is quite good at it. It's not like you can just pick names out of a hat. Other fighters have opponents lined up, they have to be healthy, they have to be able to make weight or at least think they can, they have to be willing to take adangerous fight against Lentz on short notice. Not as easy as you make it out to be Mikey.

Nik Lentz is hella underrated, am I the only one who thought he nearly beat Mendes?

Nah, I think Mendes beat him pretty clearly. Also, Mendes was sick in that fight. Lentz is good, tough, not an easy fight for anyone, but I don't think he's underrated either. Solid gatekeeper.

Lentz has a lot of UFC experience, and it is hard to take on a guy like this on your debut.

this dude is obviously a very good grappler, but idk if it's enough for lentz on short notice.
