Condit has been quality entertainment for a loooong time. Thats physically and mentally a lot of wear and tear. I'd like to see him go out on a win but I wouldn't blame him if he retires.  Surely he'd be missed but I'd b happy to see him go relatively healthy with his mental faculties.

I hope Condit stays, he's still top 5 in my book, he's been fighting elite opponents for years, he's bound to have some losses, he has found everyone who's anyone (or has been) at WW.

Maia didnt mess around, he knew what he wanted and went for it, im not sure Ive seen some one more or as determined to get a title shot than him. This kind of fight remind me why I dislike  *****y baby Woodley.   UFC needs to stop ********ing Maia and give him his shot.

I know Pettis won, but to me hi didnt look good, I think he showed two good things, he didnt gave up and kept fighting and his kicks were on point as usual.

his boxing had no pop, Oliveira walked through most his punches, specially after the 1st rd, and Oliveira isnt exactly know for his chin. Pettis looked spent(since the weigh ins) after the 1st round, imo Oliveira was wining the fight until he got guillotine'd. I think that if there wouldn't been that much size/strength difference Oliveira could have taped him earlier.

I said it before I dont see much future for Pettis at 145, I think he loose to several top 10 and probably all top 5, basically anyone with more punching power or better wrestling than Oliveira. im not saying Pettis is not good, this is just not his division, I see him loosing a couple of fights, feeling like crap and getting back to 155 to put on sligthly better performances.

condit still has life left in him.
you cant judge whether your top tier or not based on fighting Maia, he can beast anyone- he made Gunny look like he dindt know how bjj worked. And not only did Condit hang with Lawler a different set of judges could well have put the belt around condit and we probably wouldnt be having this discussion right now.
Theres top tier welterweights Id back him to beat- including both lawler and woodley.

If Condit feels like he isn't top teir that will effect his in ring performance. If he isn't mentally in the game it will be hard to hang in there physically. We all know Condit has the skills but maybe his heart just isn't in it anymore.

As for Pettis I agree with legacy that he didn't look great at 145. He looked gaunt and his conditioning just didn't look like it was as good as usual. He gets the size advantage now but at what cost. He still struggled with that grinding attack as well from a guy who is not really a grinder.

I'm not surprised he didn't tap fitch. After that fight he went 25 minutes with Shields,15 minutes with Rory,15 minutes with Yokevlov being in mount for what seemed like most of the fight, then 25 minutes with Ryan Laflare. Before the Magny fight he only had 1 submission in his last 15 fights (Story). He was always a monster on the ground but was more position over submission, but now that seems to have changed recently and seems like a man on a mission going for the kill all the time.

I think he's much more dangerous now then he's ever been and I think he's a much different fighter/finisher.I also feel like his cardio is better now, something that's been a little bit of a problem here and there, and knowing his cardio is better he's not as shy to go for finishes being less worried about gassing.Just what it seems like to me.It would be so awesome if he won the title, and I hope he get's a title shot next.

Thompson deserves the next shot, but I'd be a bit more excited for Maia to get a title shot.

I agree but I think best case scenario is Wonderboy fights Woodley, which I think is said to be happening,Maia waits and fights the winner. Then both get the shot they deserve.

Wonderboy vs. Woodley, Maia vs. GSP

sounds like fun to me.  And it's functionally close enough to a title shot for Maia (remember, belts are just fairy tale ****, and there are more great fighters than available title shots)

GSP doesn't NEED the money fight, he IS the money fight.  And if old GSP can avoid the takedown and jab Maia to death, well, at least Maia gets a nice PPV payday.  And if Maia wins his profile is enhanced, probably even more than if he beat Wood for the title

Belts aren't just fairy tale ****.Being recognized as the champ is most/all fighters dream. It also opens up other opportunities like commercials, movies and all kinds of things that bring in money simply because you're recognized as the champion no matter how ****** the UFC politics are or how deserving some are to even get title shots.

Being known as the champ you get more publicity, interviews, more fans, more eyes on you which turns into higher ppv numbers/ppv cuts. The list goes on and on why being the champ is different then not having a belt, in a positive way.As a fan,the belt does seem less important these days with ******** matchups and interim belts getting thrown around like never before so it sometimes feels like that but it really is a big deal for the fighters.
