As everyone knows, that fight wasn't stopped because the towel was thrown.

@unbeknownst, yeah, I know, I was referencing the proverbial towel throw, which is if your fighter's getting ****** up, make sure it stops when you get tha chance.

I like WMMA but have little interest in watching Cyborg fight continually at 140 catchweight.

Alot of women in the UFC fight at a non preferred weight, it is a sacrifice they make to fight in the premier MMA promotion. Waterson and Penne fought primarily at Atomweight and Eye at Flyweight.

So Cyborg can:
1. cut weight to 135 and fight at Bantamweight in UFC
2. stay at 145 and fight at Featherweight in another promotion and wait/hope UFC introduce that division.

Or...
3. The UFC stops being stingy and gives her a 145lb division instead of making her fight in Invicta or drain herself to depletion just to make 135.

It's absurd, no other fighter who's a dominant force would be overlooked just because there aren't enough contenders.Imagine if someone like Aldo was around when there wasn't even a LW division and they were like, sorry there's no competition for you or x,y and z excuse, then one of the best never gets to fight in the UFC, same goes for Cyborg. No point in making her fight at 140 when she's going to smash everyone at 135 anyway.

There's no precedent for a UFC division being as useless as women's 145 is outside Cyborg though. The clear #2 is Coenen who's signed with Bellator, has lost to Cyborg twice already, and is probably past her fighting prime. Then you have Julia Budd, who's beaten a bunch of middling fighters since getting annihilated by Nunes and Rousey who both make 135. After that the division's full of fighters with single digit records who have been soundly beaten by the better competition they faced. Talita Nogueira is 6-0, but has fought nobodies and hasn't fought in 2 1/2 years or so. Add in that Cyborg is a known PED user who constantly changes her story on making 135 and it isn't surprising she and the idea of a women's 145 doesn't generate interest or sympathy.

So what, 135 isn't much more to write home about, and the point I think was missed, that you would never force a dominant champion to fight outside the UFC or fight in a smaller weight class, it's absurd, there is a clear bias against her. 135 is all about 3 fighters, Miesha, Ronda, Holly and the rest that will never stack up, it's almost as shallow of a division at this point. Plus a lot of them will likely challenge themselves and move up, Holly fought as high as 150 in boxing and more girls will come in and be signed. And why is this even an argument that because the division is shallow a dominant champion has to move down? that's utterly ridiculous. It's always the other way around, when you beat everyone in your weight you move up, but Ronda's ***** ass didn't want to get knocked out.

The UFC weren't going to give Carano no 145 division, they were talking to her about fighting Rousey.

But seriously, what do you want them to do? Create a division where you have literally zero talent in and one chick who's not that young and has already beaten the lot of them? Why? Why would any person with an ounce of business savvy even consider doing that?

It sucks for her and "not fair" and blah blah blah, but you seriously can't go blaming the UFC for not creating a 145 women's division at this point in time. I mena look at the 115lbs division, super popular, way deeper in talent, super likable champ, less butch (yes, that counts when marketing, whether you like it or not), but let 'em headline a PPV and see what happens.

The UFC pulls a ****load of unfair and ****** up crap but not creating a 145lbs women's disivion around an unmarketable (relatively speaking), up there in age, already beaten the top girls fighter isn't one of them. That would just be bad business.

Don't worry, Smith will be getting a 5 figure payday for this fight. I think she deserves more.

Based on this tweet it doesn't look like Cyborg is putting all her eggs in the UFC basket just yet.

It was sarcasm, but 125 or even 105 should be well ahead of 145. There's just no one there that isn't contracted, and size wise  the division doesn't really have much of a future imo. In shape female athletes cutting weight is rarer there than mens hw.Maybe years down the road when the number of mma athlete's is doubled, especially among females, which I think it will at some point somewhat soon.

No, it shouldn't, there's no dominate Mike Tyson of WMMA like Cyborg.

The talent will come if you build the division, just like with 115.
