So this fight card has pretty much confirmed Jon Jones is leapfrogging Ryan Bader (as if there was any doubt).  Sucks for Bader, because he has been on a tear through 205 and should get that shot at the belt.  Still, this main event is going to be ******* amazing.

Jon Jones leapfrogging Bader? Really? hahahaha... Jon Jones is the rightful Champ he has a right to take back what's his. He never really lost the belt in the ring in the first place and hasn't even been out a year yet. Jon Jones has defended his title more recently than Jose Aldo. Taking a gold plated leather strap and wrapping it around the waist of DC may make him champ on paper but we all know who the real champ is and the only way DC will really earn the recognition he wants is to beat Jones.

@bigj383  Wrong. Jones isn't a "rightful" anything.  Being a champion isn't a ******* right, it is a privilege. There is a great responsibility that comes with said privilege.  Being a champ does not end with what one accomplishes inside the ring/cage/mat/etc.  You have to carry yourself like a champion outside of the ring, as well.  Not saying Jones has to be likable.  However, I think we can all agree that a champ has to, at the very least, have the common sense to follow the ******* law; and Jones failed miserably, in that regard.

He ****** himself out of his claims to the 205 title when he decided to behave like the selfish, reckless, junkie that he is when he committed a FELONY hit and run that nearly killed somebody.  That incident could have, by the way, resulted in more felonies against Jones to it if the police were motivated to.  He's lucky he isn't in a state penitentiary for being the same ******** he has been since he was 24.

So yeah, no.  Jones has no right to anything he held.  He lost the privilege to be considered a champion.  Hell, he's lucky that he still has his career at all.  If it was some lower level fighter in the UFC did what Jones did, Dana and company would have turned their backs and allow them to get ****** by the legal system.

I'd have to agree with greenhornet a little more here. When you're a public figure you're expected to uphold a higher standard than the average person. JBJ wasn't living a good life and it caught up with him.

I can't say for sure if he should get  an immediate shot at the title, but I really find myself saying why not? Aside from Bader, DC has beaten the elite of the division. The UFC is in the business of making money and their DC/JBJ will make a good amount of it.

Now to the real topic of this thread - I really don't see how Bader can get past Rumble. DC has shown one way to beat him, but Bader isn't really known to be a grinding fighter lately and Glover proved he can be KO'd in a heartbeat. Kudo's to him for making the strides he has, but we're going to be seeing that JBJ/Rumble match that never happened at UFC 187 in mid 2016.

Why would anyone want to see Ryan Bader vs Daniel Cormier?

Jones-Cormier and Bader-Johnson makes a lot more sense.

Bader deserves the title fight. It sucks to see him have to beat every top 5 in the division to get one. He's like Assuncao. No matter what he does, it won't be good enough.

Greg, I really don't care to see Bader vs anyone TBH but he's put in the work. If Bader wins, the UFC has an even harder time selling JBJ vs Bader 2. He could easily end up like Meisha Tate, but I don't think we'll get there with him.

I know a lot of you hate Jones as a person but he is still the best LHW MMA fighter in the world and it takes more than a strap of leather and a few metal plates to change that. If DC wants recognition and wants respect as a champion, to be recognized as the best by your average fan he has to beat Jones. So many of you let your hate cloud you from the truth. Bader has won fights but he hasn't won impressively, he hasn't done anything that makes me think he even stands a remote chance against DC.  DC vs Jones is the better fight period anyone who isn't blinded by their hate for Jones know this. DC v Jones has potential to do 750k PPV buys or  more DC vs Bader will be lucky to break 225k.

I don't really feel bad when fellas have long roads to a title shot ... if they lose on the way, they're not the champ.

I like Bader as a fighter but he stands next to zero chance against Jones. Sad to say that.

Haha Bader was beating Glover until he got careless and started to try rush the finish same v Lyoto he rushed . The Bader we have now is much more calm and calculating it's possible that Rumble could catch him but it's more likely that Bader will put Rumble on his back and win via late finish in the 4th or by Decision.

Doubt it. If Rumble was able to stuff Phil Davis repeatedly Bader's not going to fare any better. Bader sleeps in every fight he has against powerful strikers with above average TDD. Bader's always thought too highly of his own stand up. Every fight he's lost in the UFC has been finished. This one won't be any different. He'll get frustrated when he can't get Rumble down at will and wind up eating a death shot.

Honestly this is one of the least interesting looking FOX cards to me in a while. Rumble-Bader is cool but seems like a waste of a 5 rounder when it's likely to end in the first. Rothwell-Barnett is decent, I don't have much interest in seeing Ellenberger fight top level guys anymore, other fights look pretty meh. Hope they get some better prelims going.

Rothwell vs Barnett is a nice fight and its will be interesting to see Rumbel destroy Bader. The rest of the card is just ****!
