Why is Arlovski getting the "has to beat whole division to get a title shot" treatment? Love some Miocic but this fight barely makes sense with Miocic coming off 1 win while Arlovski's had 4. Rebooking Miocic-Rothwell would have been the better choice here.

^No, Arlovski already smashed Rothwell.
And Arlovski or JDS should have gotten the title shot anyway. UFC is ******* up the HW division.

That was 7 years ago, that hardly relevant now. Rothwell has the second best win streak in the division. I agree Arlovski should have gotten the title shot, but he did not. JDS is tied up in a grudge match, so I really dont see how Rothwell is not the obvious chose given the fact he has the second best win streak in the division. Rothwell vs Arlovski should be a title eliminator.

Picked first round just based on it being a HW fight and Arlovski usually finishes in the first or doesn't finish at all. If he's going to catch Stipe, I think it'll be early with speed. If he doesn't, he'll fight conservatively.

I don't think Arlovski has much of a chance here. He looked way too vulnerable to being pressured up against the fence fighting Fat Mir. Miocic did the same thing way better against JDS in a five round fight.

@franklin, I don't think Rothwell is high enough in the rankings at the moment to get a shot at Arlovski anyway, yes it happened long ago but Miocic vs Arlovski makes so much more sense right now (if the UFC insists on holding up the division with a cain rematch) than Arlovski vs Rothwell 2 which honestly would probably just end up the same as the first fight anyway. Rothwell vs Barnett sounds like the fight to make right now which all other contenders matched up unfortunately.

to high in the rankings ? There two spots away from eachother. Junior fighting Overreem who 7 spots away from him. So that not very strong argument for them not the fight. Not to mention two of the people over rothwell in travis and barnet makes almost no sense that there currently ranked over him.
I bet you also thought overreem would beat rothwell as well right? Me not so much. I also I don't think Arlovski would win his rematch with rothwell at all. I think if your plan is to stand and strike with rothwell, 15 mintues is a long ass time not to get knocked.

Heavyweight ranking is quite subjective, I don't have them that close, and yes, fighting Rothwell is a huge step down for Arlovski and makes no sense, especially having beaten him. There's a lot of **** that doesn't make sense with this division, I mentioned Barnett because he's the only ranked opponent without a fight. I'd rather see the Miocic vs Rothwell match, JDS vs Werdum 2, Arlovski vs Cain and Overeem vs Barnett maybe.
