All fights start standing and I don't think Rousey could avoid getting mauled by that beast of a woman for long enough to get her to the ground. It'd be a 30 second fight either way. Either Rousey would flip Cyborg on her head and submit her, or Rousey would get blasted in the face and crumble like paper. I seriously don't think that fight will ever happen though, even though it would probably do a billion buys on ppv.

Speaking of Coenen, why didn't the UFC ever try and sign her to a contract and have her fight Rousey?  That surely would be an amazing fight;  especially considering how, prior to Rousey's reign of dominance, Coenen was the top fighter in the Women's 135 division.

@Cthulhu, I think you're underestimating a) Ronda's striking at this stage of her career b) the kind of character that Ronda is and Cyborg isn't (juicing is a sign of weakness and lack of belief in yourself that Ronda simply doesn't have and c) the fact that Ronda's grappling isn't good nor is it great, it's from another world.

Ronda has a good chin, she's WAY stronger than she looks and she's just got too many tools that Cyborg doesn't have.

I personally would rather see the fight at 140 at the lowest, but if by any chance it happens at 135 without Cyborg dying in the sauna that's just another advantage that Ronda has over Cyborg. Not that I think she needs it, but it's still a major advantage.

Cyborg has brute strength, but for a girl like Ronda she's going to be too easy to read, she's too aggressive to not get caught up in a clinch and tossed where she'll be dispatched of fast. Technique over brute strength any day.

Coenen didn't like the cut to 135. Said she'd never fight at that weight again. Also there's some beef between her Zuffa. They ended up cutting her when they took over StrikeForce.

I'll bite.

A.) Her striking at this stage of her career is still a complete mystery. Her fights do not last long enough to determine anything from (other than the Miesha rematch) and I'm not ready to label her a good striker due to one body knee.

B.) I don't think juicing automatically means you don't have belief in yourself. It depends on the mindset of the person doing it just like everything else. Not to mention for all we know Rousey is or has juiced at some point, though I too hiiighly doubt that.

C.) Yeah, her grappling against other women is about as dominant as Cyborg's striking is. I will give you the fact that Rousey is doing it to much higher level competition, but when it's an argument of striker vs. grappler like it is I don't think it really matters all that much. If the fight turns into anything other than a kickboxing type of fight then Cyborg loses for sure, but if it doesn't there's no way Rousey hangs with Cyborg on the feet. It's the definition of styles making and determining the fight.

Then I guess our only disagreement is on how well Ronda will fair in the striking part of the fight and since my opinion's based mainly on Ronda's character, my gut feeling and that sweet short right she cracked Alexis Davis with to put her to sleep before the whole toss-neck crank-face demolition sequence occured I don't have anything to counter you with.

As for the weakness of mind ... I see Cyborg as a Tyson character, she's a scared little girl inside a crazy wrecking machine's body. That's what makes her so dangerous and that'll eventually make her crumbling point a tad closer than Ronda's.

Again, I have absolutely no proof for my theory, just a feeling I get from her, when she talks and a few other psychological tell-tales I notice in her. I'm most definitely not a psychologist, but I tend to see those things in people, so I guess only time will tell if I'm on the money or talking out of my ass.

I'm not even a Rousey fan and it took me a while to understand her greatness, but I'm a full believer in it these days and Cyborg seems mentaly fragile to me (I know, it sounds weird, but that's how I see it).

@yossgold

I agree with most of what you said, but at least before the UFC's new drug policy was created, juicing was merely a sign that you wanted to battle your opponent on even conditions.
