Can someone explain what the belt system is here?

I see some people with black belts and some with camo belts and all different color belts.

Some different degrees it appears too.

Is this accuracy in picking fights?

Well the better your accuracy is, the more points youll get towards newer belts. but really its more about participation. The more you participate in various things on the website the faster you gain new belts. like rankings, forum posts plus picks combined

you get promoted in the belt rankings by getting points . and you get points by making posts, picking fights ,making rankings , or creating some Wikis , Following people ,them following you so yea there is lots of ways . you get a lot of points if you can win a weekend Competition which is where you pick every promotion from Thursday to monday i think . but that's Joe Kerr Territory ... good luck

I still think Nomad should get the Nomad belt.

The Nomad belt would be the size of a **** ring.....    A very tiny **** ring.

What if you only picked fights in one promotion but were very accurate at doing so?

I suppose I am asking if it is a participation thing in general or is it only about accuracy?

Thanks for those who responded. I usually never get responses in forums for days.

Mostly participation. If you are just picking one promotion even very accurately you wont gain belts after probably the blue belt very fast. For instance ive been on this site for almost 3 years and just got a Coral not that long ago. Ive been trying to average around 100 picks from the tops orgs for the last year or so. but I also used to post on the forums a lot, and used to do rankings pretty often.

Originally we had planned for the points to be more balanced across the various features of the site.  But as we went from 1 or 2 events per weekend, to 5 or 10, to 25, to 50 and now even more per weekend, it means you can accumulate points from making fight predictions much faster than you can from the other parts of the site.

That said, you can definitely reach black belt without having to pick tons of fights. Just use the various features of the site and within a year you can get to black belt.  If you pick every fight you can get there much faster.

Picking lots of fights every weekend is definitely the fastest way to move through the belts.  As someone who picks every fight each weekend, I've earned enough points over the last six weeks to progress from a white belt to a black belt had I been a new member.  And welcome to Tapology!

I used to only pick about a hundred fights a week but now that I do the weekly contest, I get a new strip on a belt every three weeks or so. Those are 50000 points each.

i only really pick ufc and invicta these days and havnt gone up a belt in forever (august 2013

to answer the initial question up to black belt its as you expect- but when picking hundreds of fights a week became common and people would get to black in six months others began to be added after black- so any solid colour is below black, then black, then coral, then it gets into the weird things like ice and camo so as people will always have somthing to strive for and not max out the belts

Thanks!

My issue will probably always be that I watch a lot of UFC and am ok at picking winners there. But in other orgs It looks overwhelming. I mean, I had no idea there were that many promotions out there.

This site is wild for sure.

Dont worry, hang around for a while and you will get used to the other Orgs. I used to only watch UFC and Bellator on occasion before I came on here. Now I watch shows in UK,  Russia , Poland , SOuth East Asia Brazil, even the middle east. The more you recognize certain fighters the more youll want to pick them and watch them. And there are tons of promotions that stream their shows around the world. Even UFC is starting to pick some of them up if you subscribe to fight pass.

there is a really good card in a few minutes here.

http://bellator.com/articles/prelimstream

the main card will be on Spike TV in a few hours if you have that channel

If you pick enough of the random events it can be pretty easy to get points even when you don't have any clue who the fighters are.

The next belt needs to be the joe kerr belt. He's usually pretty original in coming up with BLC team names & logos and weekend comps themes so I'd like to see what he comes up with if admins ask him to design a belt :D

If he does that, it seems like that would be the last belt. There could be plenty of others names before that.
