Hopefully Cejudo can consistently make 125 at the weigh ins and not run into the same issues that forced him to bump up to 135.  Other than that, it's good to see that the UFC are trying to build Henry Cejudo into a big name star and not have him rush to a fight with Mighty Mouse.  Kid has a lot of potential to be a big name in the division and possibly can bring some needed competition to what has unfortunately become a lopsided division in the favor of Demetrious Johnson.  All he needs is to do is do well in this fight (which he most likely will) and potentially have one more big fight against a top 5 guy (like Dodson or McCall) and the kid will be ready to for a title fight.  At least, as ready as someone can get when they are going to fight one of the top (and probably the most underrated) P4P fighters in the world.

This is kind of a disappointing fight for Cejudo

@SocccerKick Meh. Sorta kinda I guess, but keep in mind the UFC is now actually trying to build up a contender for 125 instead of feeding Cejudo straight away to Mighty Mouse, only because he has a 2-3 fight win streak.  I honestly suspect, and hope for the love of doG, that the UFC will give Cejudo a top 5 opponent should he beat Camus (most likely McCall or Formiga); as a way to legitimize him as a top contender in the division, as opposed to all the fighters who the UFC outright fed to Mighty Mouse like Bagautinov, Moraga, Cariaso, and now (unfortunately) Horiguchi.

@Greenhornet if the fights were reversed and he went Camus and then Soto the it'd be cool, this just seems like a step back

@Soccerkick When in the hell did Soto fight Cejudo?

However, all nitpicking aside, I do see your point about him getting the Camus fight first and then getting Cariaso fight on this card.  Then again, McGregor beat Poirier who was ranked #6 as a Featherweight at the time IIRC, and then went on to beat Dennis Siver who was barely in the top 15 in the UFC's Featherweight rankings and ended up getting the title shot; even though he never fought the likes of Frankie Edgar, Ricardo Lamas, and Chad Mendes.  So it's not much of a surprise that the UFC is using the same game plan with Cejudo that they did with McGregor, although I bet the UFC will tweak said game plan and give Cejudo and have him fight someone in the top 5 (most likely Ian "Gatekeeper" McCall) and try and hold off from having him jump directly to a title fight with Mighty Mouse.  At least that is what I hope happens;  because in my view, Dodson should have the next title shot against Johnson before Cejudo or any other fighter at 125.  Dodson is the one of the only two fighters, with the other one being Joseph Benavidez, that has come remotely close to beating Johnson for the Flyweight strap and should get another go at the belt.

@SoccerKick  Eh, I have made similar errors.  I once remarked on here that I thought that Pettis had KO'ed Henderson at WEC 53 with that ninja kick, even though that wasn't the case.

This fight booking shows me that the UFC are not planning on booking Cejudo to fight for the FyW title next after UFC188 (unless Dodson loses at 187). If Cejudo was booked against Formiga that would of been a fast track fight for him.

One thing I knew the UFC was gonna do is put all the local Mexican talent on the card, sometimes someone doesn't have to be originated from a specific country to be on a specific card.

Gotta assume they aren't just building his star status up, but building trust he can make 125lbs. I'd like to see Cejudo face Dodson, Benavidez or Bagautinov before getting a title shot as I feel those three men are considerably better than McCall, Moraga, Formiga etc.

Still, at the end of the day it's the UFCs job to do everything they can to groom Cejudo for the title shot vs Mighty Rat, and I don't blame them. I want to see it very much.
