@PilloryChoke

Champ is always top of the rankings; it's the rule of thumb. I think Pettis will stay at #1.

@PilloryChoke It isn't a confusing rankings situation. Khabib is worse than RDA in all areas of MMA. I actually made a thread about that before they fought. I won't say that fight was a fluke, because Khabib imposed his will on RDA and did exactly what he planned to do, but it was a rarity. It won't happen again, that much is assured.

I just hope he pisses clean. Not cause I think he is roiding but they might find some T1000 in his blood the way he walked through those flush head and body kicks like they were nothing.

You gotta love how everyone forgot how Guida exposed Pettis yet they actually expected him to hold this title for a long time much less be a top 5 P4P guy. If it wasn't RDA that spoiled the Pettis Party, it would have been Khabib.

The truth is that Benson and Gil were never as good as people thought they were. Cerrone was in his drink more Budweiser than train phase when he lost to Pettis(same time frame that Diaz killed Cerrone) and Benson was never really the LW champ.

@Jotun that was 5 years ago, dude... even blind people can see that RDA is a better fighter now.

@Jotun Or maybe I was right all along and RDA is the future goat. Khabib would have never been able to do to Pettis what RDA did: RDA didn't just wrestle with Pettis, he won the standup exchanges and drained his gas tank with body kicks. Khabib's striking is the worst among the lightweight top 5 + Champ, and by far.

EDIT: Yes, I am well aware that "future GOAT" is an exageration. But still.

I'd take current RDA over current Khabib in a rematch pre-having-known-the-result-of-this-fight a few hours ago without a second thought.

RDA has a chin like a Bond villain, 4 titanium plates and over 20 screws, he can eat flush shots for days and laugh at you as your hand breaks.

RDA's left hand was a thing of beauty. To think that he was just a BJJ guy a few years ago is insane.

I think that every champ that starts talking about superfights before he's defended his belts at least 4-5 times should get beat down like this ... people need to understand that superfights are legacy fights, earned by ... well, building a legacy, not some sort of natural progression after winning the belt.

Give the contenders in your division the respect you wanted when you were a contender not so long ago (which is the case if you don't have 4-5 defenses) and let them fight for the belt before superfight and legacy talk.

His striking sharply took the turn upward back when he put Sotiropolous to sleep.  Before that it was really ****, but it got good real quick from that fight on.

After Pettis beat Melendez, I said that all it would take was someone to pressure him to beat him and look what just happened. I believe that Khabib will beat RDA and be the next champ.

It's also hilarious how the UFC hasn't said **** about Pettis losing on social media yet. Dana White mad.
