Is it finally time to admit Fedor was grossly overrated?

No, but if he goes to the UFC instead of to M1 and DREAM and you switch those three wins against Monson, Ishii, and Rizzo to losses against guys like Lesnar, Cain, JDS then yeah, I think that does provide a lot more of a legitimate argument for Messiah's side. If he goes out on a 6 fight losing streak instead of taking easy fights and going out on a 3 win streak, yeah, his legacy becomes kinda like BJ Penn's or Chuck's. I think it's pretty clear either he, or his management wanted to play it safe. Which to me is kinda stupid because there are fights in the UFC he could have won. Hell, he was only 35ish around then, definitely not in his prime, but not too far out of it. And people who think he would have walked through Randy Couture, are underestimating Randy Couture. There's a very good possibility that Couture either gets him down, hangs out in his half guard and grinds out a decision, or wall and stalls Fedor for 3 rounds. Something else I just thought of, had Fedor ever fought in a cage before Strikeforce, or were all of his fights up to that point contested in a ring? Maybe he wasn't a fan of the whole cage thing.

The Fedor that beat Tim Sylvia would not have been able to beat a lot of fighters, Couture included.

We talking 2009 Randy vs Fedor or 2006 Randy vs Fedor. The Randy that got completely dominated by Big Nog in the grappling game would not have stood a chance against Fedor. I do think earlier in their careers, when they were both at their best, that Couture could have made it a great fight ala CroCop and Big Nog.
Either way if you are going to bash on Fedor for not coming to the UFC after SF I can't say anything. He went out on a win and took easier fights at that point in his career just like everyone with sense does. Him going to the UFC and losing to Cain, JDS and Lesnar in 2011 and 2012 would not diminish anything that he accomplished. Chuck Liddell went out on a 1-5 streak and until Jones was still considered the greatest LHW of all time. BJ Penn went out 1-5-1 and is still widely considered the GOAT LW. Silva's last two fights against a MW were brutal KO loses and will be considered the GOAT MW for a long time. Only ignorant haters try to bash a persons career based on the fact they had loses at the end of it.

If they fought around 2000-2002 or so, Fedor would have subbed him.
Any time after that Randy gets KO'd.

If Fedor fought Obi Wan Kenobi at any point of their careers he'd have gotten a heavy dose of the force jammed up his ass.

Fair enough. No I don't think it would be easier for Cain to pass Fedor if he went out with loses. But that is because I judge the GOAT based on their peak, not based on how bad they got at the end of their career. GSP could come back and lose 6 in a row and still be GOAT because of how good he was when at the top.
