Seeing  how Wrestling is one of the most popular bases in MMA, i thought that it would be goof if i started a thread that  would allow for people to understand and follow the storylines and techniques at the highest level collegiate and international level competition.  I will create a Ranking system and give scouting reports of the top 10 guys at each weight class and provide updated weekly rankings every Monday. The first event i'm covering is NWCA National dual finals between Iowa and Missouri.

Here's the wrestling preview for UFC 194.\
Jose Aldo: No wrestling background
Conor Mcgregor: No wrestling background
Chris Weidman: 2x All american for Hofstra University, placed sixth in 2001 FILA Cadet Nationals( Commonly referred to as Fargo, biggest and toughest tournament at the high school level hands down) 2x JUCO all-american for Nassau Community college placing third twice(2003-2004) at 2006 NCAA's went on an absolute tear beating #1 seed Wynn Michalak, who's currently top 10 in the domestic freestyle rankings and has beaten Olympic champ Jake Varner,  then in the quarterfinals he beat Ryan Bader(8th seed), and in the semi-finals he lost to Jake Rosholt who finished his collegiate career as a 3x national champion so there's no shame in that. In the 2007 season Weidman had a 28-7 record and got a win over Phil Davis, and come the NCAA tournament he turned it on again beating All-americans Jerry Rinaldi, 2013 world team member J.D. Bergman, and Mike Tamillow placing third.
Luke Rockhold: wrestled in high school didn't place in California state tournament which is understandableseeing as they're still the only single division state, quit wrestling while in community college to fully focus on jiu-Jitsu
Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza-  One of the best grapplers to ever live did not start his career as a wrestler instead opting for Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.
Yoel Romero- One of the best Cuban wrestlers ever, 5 time world medalist(1 gold, 2 silvers, 2 bronzes,) 5 time Pan-Am champ, 3 time world cup champ, 2000 Olympic runner-up to arguably the best P4P wrestler at the time Adam Saitiev, placed fifth at the 2004 Olympics losing to Sazhid Sazhidov who is the current head coach for Russia's national freestyle team. Has wins over 1996 Olympic champ Khadzhimurad Magomedov, 2000 Olympic Bronze medalist Magomed Ibragimov,  1996 Olympic 4th placer Plamen Paskalev,  4x undefeated NCAA champion and 2004 Olympic Champion Cael Sanderson, 2005 World bronze medalist Magomed Kurugliev, 1992 World champ 1992 and 1996 Olympic bronze medalist Amir Reza Khadem, 2008 Olympic champion Revaz Mindorashvili, and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Taras Danko. Yeah Yoel's pretty good.
Demian Maia and Gunnar Nelson- Both are true BJJ savants with Maia being able to lay claim to being one of the most credentialed BJJ competitors  to ever enter MMA, neither has a wrestling background.
Max Holloway-No wrestling background
Jeremy Stephens- wrestled for Norwalk High school in Des Moines, Iowa.
Urijah Faber-  wrestled for University of California-Davis and was Round of 12 at the 2002 NCAA's. Unviersity Nationals runner-up, ahs wins over AA and world team member Shawn Bunch, All-American Matt Sanchez, and Mark Jayne
Frankie Saenz- wrestled at Arizona State and University of North Colorado, 1999 NHSCA Senior Nationals All-american, Fargo freestyle AA taking sixth in freestyle and fourth in Greco. 2x Arizona State champion
Colby Covington- AA for Oregon State placing fifth at the 2011 NCAA's at 174, 2009 Midland's fourth placer, 2011 Pac 10 champ, 2005 Fargo AA placing fifth in Greco, 2006 Fargo Freestyle AA placing fourth, 2006 NHSCA 3rd placer,  has wins over All-americans Chris Heinrich and 2012 NCAA runner-up Nick Amuchastegi.

65 KG

65 KG: at this weight it’s a bit of a ******* mess a lot of really good 70 KG’s are coming down so it messes with the weight quite a bit, 70’s coming down to 65 are Yakup Gor, Israil Kasumov, Azamat Nurikov, James Green, and lots of guys have had some weird losses after worlds for example Ikhityor Navruzov losing to Amit Dhankar at Indian Pro Wrestling League among his loses at the intercontinental cup have him dropping low in this ranking

  1. Frank Chamizo

  2. Sayed Ahmed Mohammadi

  3. Togrul Asgarov

  4. Magomed Kurbanaliev

  5. Soslan Romanov

  6. Ikhityor Navruzov
