I wonder if Jon will be cell mates with Lawrence Phillips? That probably wouldn't work out to well for Lawrence though!

In the grand scheme of things, this is not so important, but as for the pregnant woman...

Let's hope she has a healthy bouncing baby and lives off of Jon Jones for the rest of her life!!!!

He might have just ruined his career. Smh he had the potential to be the greatest of all time and now who knows if he will ever fight again. I think we will see a bit of a four man tournament where OSP steps in against Rumble at 187  while Cerrone vs Khabib becomes the new co-main event. And the winner of Rumble/OSP will probably fight the winner of DC/Bader for the vacant belt.

This is what I assume Dana will say to Jon, if and when he gives him a phone call about this situation:

Career ruining? I seem to remember this other Champion who once did a hit and run and even had a huge police chase.

His career was obviously ruined I wonder what ever happened to him. If jones isn't already out of jail he will be soon, $2,500 is easy for him to come by. Once posting bail he will likely never spend another day in a cell as he will plea to a misdemeanor pay a fine maybe do probation.  He will settle out of court with the pregnant lady probably paying her 6 figures to go away.

@ShakeANDBake, I think you've gone a bit too far.

I don't think his career is ruined, I don't think he'll do a lot of time if any (probably not more than 6 months to a year - not a career ruining period at his age and with his physical advantages).

I'm pretty sure he's going to lose a ****load of sponsors and hopefully will finally drop the holier than thou Christian shtick (seriously, how can he not?) and look for sponsors who like using "bad boys" and not clean-cut super-heroes.

I'm pretty sure the time it took him to turn himself in was spent on cleaning up (so's not to be totally ****** up in mug shots and at the station while giving his statement) and working on damage control and a way to spin it with his legal team (I'm expecting a full-blown "ooooh, I'm an addict, I have a problem, waaaahhh, love me" sob story within the next day or two).

@Bigj  Well, to be fair here, it's not hard to get into a hit and run when you drive a monster truck as your main car.

But in all seriousness, I'm with yoss on this.  Jones is probably only going to get a 6 months to a year max on this, in a worst case scenario; so not much in terms of a career ruining jail sentence.  However, this whole **** storm will cause him to lose a lot of his big name sponsors.

I strongly doubt Jones does any time at all. Rampage didn't do any and he hit a woman who claimed he caused her to have a miscarriage (though I think that was later disproven). Of course we are talking CA vs NM so the laws are likely different.  His attorney will work with the prosecutor behind the scenes  and work out a deal. Its probably not worth it for Jones or the state to persue it in court unless they want to make an example of him.

2500 bond?   Let's see how good Zuffa really is. 3 and 1/2 weeks till the fight takes place. I say it's 50/50 he fights. Pregnant woman gets paid. Misdemeanor  charges will be pleaded out  This PPV has the potential to sell 1 million PPV's. You will have 95% of the fans behind "rumble" to knock this guy out. Jon Jones % of the PPV goes to the city of Albuquerque substance and abuse center and various other related charities. Maybe even his pay check goes to something similar. That will be his punishment along with 100 hours of community service.

@messiah,

"All of you that think Jon Jones is going to go to jail for up to a year for this are smoking crack."

I agree, I only wrote that as an uber-worst case scenario since I have absolutely no familiarity with the American judicial system.

I also wrote that he won't do a lot "if any".

People with money in this country don't go to prison for a hit-and-run, even if it's a felony and they flee the scene. Unless there is man slaughter involved, which in this case there isn't. This will end up being be a steep fine, community service, suspended license, and perhaps house arrest (doubt the last part).

If I was Jon, I'd be more concerned with the civil lawsuit against him that will be forthcoming. This is going to be a really expensive mistake.

You guys realize that the judicial system is trying to make it a point to come down way harder on athletes right? There's a reason Adrian Peterson almost did time for disciplining his son.
